I think it's the receivers. He scans and keeps his eyes down field. Then tucks it or throws it away.
He had a great game.  Forget the numbers.  He did what it took to win

The comment about bootlegging, if you look at the plays there are some people open, but a lot of the boot legs were across the body which are difficult throws. If he had time to square up it could have been much bigger gains. I think next year after looking at the film he will recognize when he can square up and hit the big ben/Russell Wilson throw.

I can't forget this number: zero interceptions.

Agreed. Caldwell needs to spend on the Oline next season, or Bortles is going to end up like Joe Theismann.

Oline, I also would like to see a veteran receiver not shorts, and a tight end weapon not Lewis.  We have the money so lets go get our Qb some weapons.

He makes me want to pull my hair out sometimes, but no int's and a nice td pass this game.

Make a run for Iupati and Bulaga, along with drafting a couple.

Bulaga would be great.  I just hope he doesn't turn out like Beadles...It's obvious they let him walk for a reason...

No, let's draft Mariota! (Sarcasm)
Did anyone see Mariota on the CBS pregame show last Sunday talking about Heisman?  That dude looks tall, but hes built like a stick.  Someone blind sides him like Bortles tonight, he would die.

While I like the improvement on not turning the ball over (technically, not true since he didn't feel the pressure on that one play and got absolutely blindsided and fumbled, Toby just made a heckuva play to recover), I feel like he's erring too much on the side of caution. There were quite a few plays tonight where the pass was there, but he didn't pull the trigger. Early in the year, he makes that throw...maybe its an INT maybe its a big play by our WR...who knows. Now? It's a sack or a checkdown.

There was also that one run where he had one blocker to the right. He could have run for the 1st down then slid, instead he immediately slid after a gain of only 4 yards. I'm a bit worried that all this pressure of a bad OL and the INT-bash mid-season has turned this gunslinger into the same mold as Blaine and Henne.

Bortels =  awesome

OL        = awful

One awful always offsets one awesome, but get two awesomes and the results are awesome^2 rather than 2 x awesome.

Nobody in the world feels that pressure. No QB expects their RT to whiff like that and allow their QB to get blasted. That has nothing to do with Bortles. He fumbled because he was in the motion of throwing.

And something tells me that your be the first guy on here whining about an int if he hadn't erred on the side of caution.
He is so bad. Another bust QB. It is embarrassing that people will say he had a good game tonight because he didn't throw an interception. He's better than Gabbert but that isn't saying much. We need to look at another QB in the draft. Hell Mettenberger in limited action has shown way more than BB ever has.

Quote:He's doing a good job of getting the most out of what he has.
 This is more true then most want to believe, AND he's doing it as a rookie who did not start the season, which means he didn't get all the #1 QB snaps during the preseason and first couple of games.

I think it's a combination of alot of things.  BB5 isn't comfortable in the pocket anymore, you can tell he's lost trust in the o-line, so if his first read isn't there, he's ready to bail on the o-line.

I saw this multiple times. It looks like if BB5 doesn't see his first read, he's out of there...  Which I don't blame him on.  That O-line is trash.  Seriously, Young practically go BB5 killed out there.
They one play that stood out to me this game was in the third quarter I believe.

Quick drop back and wanted to go across the middle to Shorts. There was a defender between him and CS3s route and instead of forcing it for probably a sure pick he took the sack since the pocket collapsed. The first Titans game he would have thrown that INT.

This is where I think Bortles is suffering the most - in an effort not to throw interceptions, he is so risk-adverse he won't take chances.  Bottles is a slinger, he needs to throw the rock downfield and take chances to develop his confidence.
