Quote:Terrible win? That seems a little harsh...

The last couple of years have been particularly hard on everyone in Duval land, but there is this; we knew it was going to be ugly for a few years when the team was gutted and a lot of rookies were signed. That's just the nature of our situation right now and it's been talked about and analyzed to pieces so there's really no need to continue flogging that dead horse.

Nevertheless, a win is a win. My only caveat is that the 'over the top' celebrating about this win just shows how pathetic this team is and how desperate the jags fans are to see a winning team! But get a grip for heaven's sake; we just ended up with a win over one of the worst teams (at the moment) in the NFL. This win occurred at the end of the season after going several months (where wins would've mattered...) with only two wins.

Be happy we won but keep things in perspective.

My God, another logical poster. BTW, you're a moron bandwagon fan for that comment. That's what I was called for expressing the same thing.
Quote:This was ugly, both teams

Hmm, at this point the win meant nearly nothing to either team so they put out players they really want to evaluate going into the offseason much like a preseason game...

very good point.
..."realize that when Gus Bradley talks about 'victory' he's talking about something other than winning games. When he talks about victory, he's talking about his philosophy of each player striving to be his best every day and reaching for a higher goal than simply winning-"

John Oesher, 'O-zone' 26Dec14.

Speaking for myself, I admit that I am not very concerned about whether or not players 'strive to be his best every day.' When it comes to a professional football team, I'm concerned about getting to see my team win. I define 'winning' the same way most people do... at the end of the game, our team has more points on the scoreboard than our opponents. Gus needs to forget about all the philosophical 'double talk' and get it in his players heads that winning means having a higher score than our opponents at the end of the fourth quarter.

I don't care to watch football to cheer my team on to 'higher personal achievements'....

There's a difference between a hardcore fan and casual fan.  The casual fan thinks the only thing that matters is the win.  The hardcore fan, aware of the two roster rebuilds and sorry state of the franchise since 2008, does find player development satisfying.

No way.  We are ALL hardcore fans.  We have waited years for a competent football team, and it's still the same.  There is no other fan I know like the Jaguars.  We have endured so much heart ache watching this team.  We are sitting at 3-12 at the end of Gus' SECOND year.  It's time to win, and win now.  No more moral victories.  If we don't go 8-8 (which is a moral victory to me), Gus should be gone by the time 8 wins is out of reach.

The irony is this board was full of people complaining after they won last week.

So let me get this right.  The hardcore fan roots against the current state of the franchise, and the rebuild thats in process, so that we can move up a spot or 2 in the draft?  The hardcore fan doesn't want the players we already have on the roster to succeed now?  All for what, a slot or two that really doesn't even matter.  There WILL be a pro-bowl player available when the jags pick.  Let's root for the team to improve now and stop with the ridiculous tanking talk, which has been going on for waaay too long now.

That's not really anything close to what I was trying to say.  I was only commenting that wins aren't the only sign of the franchise improving.  Player development is happening and talent is being added.  I never want the team to lose, but the W/L column isn't the only way to judge the team right now.

That's your opinion and and you can have it; but here's the thing... I do understand the difference between winners and losers in professional football:

*losers go home at the end of 17 weeks...

*contenders go to the play-off's.....

*the winner takes home the Vince Lombardi trophy at the SB.

In professional football it's about winning. The 'feel good' stuff was ok in 'pee wee' league... but not here; not for paying fans of professional football.

You can't be this simple-minded. Nobody would've complained if they won in September and October but these cosmetic wins at the end of the season means jack. Glad you feel better about winning three games the whole year instead of 2. We'll be in the Super bowl in no time with that motivational win against the superb Titans.
Quote:Spoken like a true american white boy. Yeeeeehaw! Probably makes your stomach churn knowing those "thugs" make the money they make while you're out here blue collaring it huh Billy Ray? I know you're grand pappy hates them "thugs" taking over destroying your country eh? Take America back Billy!

This.  I'm sick of the mediocrity and excuses for not winning.  We've dealt with this too long.  We have our QB, now lets kick some...

This as well.  If we would have won in those two months, I can almost think we'd be in contention for a wild card tomorrow.  But let this process linger for another couple years because we don't know what we are talking about because we are the bandwagon/casual fan, whom know nothing about this organization.

We get it. You complain when the team loses. You complain when the team wins.

It is your shtick.

shtick... that's

A. a sh(bad word removed) stick..

B. a female tick...

C. a popular brand of razor blades...

D. the pronunciation of the word 'stick' by someone with a severe speech impediment...

Shtick eh? Apparently you have a problem with reading and comprehension. Listen closely: win in September and October and nobody will complain. Not even me the shtick guy let you tell it. Lose all season next year and win a few in December, then you and your buddies can have another jamboree over another losing season.
