Quote:ESPN just showed a stat of the worse NFL QBRs since 2010 while talking about Cutler getting benched. Blaine Gabbert was on the list with 21.7...and Bortles was ahead of him with a 21.4 and only Jimmy Clausen had a worse QBR. I just don't understand how Bortles' QBR is so low. Yes he has 17 INTs to 10 TDs but that's really the only stat he's THAT subpar in. I mean, i don't know how you watch Bortles and say he is as bad as Gabbert. PFF and other advanced statistic websites also have Bortles as being really brutal. I just don't get it.
Gabbert had a hard time completing the ball to the other team... at least Bortles balls don't hit the ground.
I think a lot of people are forgetting Blake's WRs are drive killers. Look at last game. Shorts and Lewis totally screwed the team on 3 different occasions. That doesn't help when the drop perfect passes on 3rd down. Blake has trash around him 360 degrees. He doesn't even have a ground game to speak of.

ESPN is a joke.
ESPN's QBR is about as useless as... well the rest of ESPN.

Quote:Most of the real smart people called him "captain checkdown"  I thought he was just a guy.  He was usually pretty good about not turning the ball over but also lacked big play ability.  His 4th and 2 run in the playoffs is the epitome of his career.  Solid guy but will never take you to the superbowl.
Most of the real smart as$ idiots called him captain checkdown while he was giving his 4th vertebrae for the team. There is no doubt he was better than any QB since Brunnell. He could make any pass. So called fans who diss players busting their bodies up and giving 100% need to be run over by a teal and black camper while waddling back to their lincolns. After they dressed Dave up and took him to that meeting downtown to announce him as the starting QB, knowing they would fire him, he came back and CURSED the Jags while cleaning out his locker room. 10 years of bad luck and poor play at QB would follow. Looks like the curse worked.
All you need to know about QBR as a stat is it takes subjective evaluation of game situations into account.

Any stat that incorporates subjective analysis is worthless.

All you need to know about the QBR was it was designed to make ESPNS golden boy Timmy Tebow look respectable

That's pointless and unnecessary speculation.

As I said, the critical part about the stat is it's subjective.

Pointless and unnecessary speculation. roflmao

Its fact pure and simple.
So there was an espn statement saying they created the qbr to prop up tee bow?

That's a tough fact to prove...

Not with all the evidence

Ratings = Money

Tebow = Ratings

QBR props up Tebow

Cash Cow Party at ESPN

I know there is no Fact and its all circumstantial. But to call it pointless and unnecessary is just not looking at the evidence. Most PPl agree it is a useless Statistic
This is possibly the dumbest topic ever created.  Waste of time...

It certainly is now.
This is a horrible comparison.  We all know Gabbert dwarfs Bortles as a QB

Actually i think Gabbert is a inch shorter
Gabbert is better at yelling at Texan players when they are taking cheap shots.

Quote:BB5 < Gabbert...

NH3...

Are you sure?

Are you saying espn needs help with ratings?

Highly doubtful.
The difference is that we actually watch the games and see the potential he has. He's smart, aggressive, mobile, has a good arm, and isn't afraid. He has balls. We all see this, the problem is that he has terrible protection, and he is trying to grow chemistry with a bunch of different rookies also. All these analysts just follow highlights and track his stats because lets be honest. They would rather not watch 16 jaguars games..

Bingo. If you are someone who doesn't watch a single Jags game, you have to think Bortles is a terrible QB.  My friends see Teddy leading game winning drives or Carr beating the Chiefs but they don't get to see Blake. When they do, he's usually getting crushed by a big Dlineman.

Still... The Jags motto of "Next year doe" lives on! I think next year, if all things go as planned, we will have better protection along with more experienced playmakers. Should be fun.
