Quote:I don't necessarily disagree, but I'd much rather see Blake play well enough for us to win some games down the stretch. If the young players step up and play to their potential, in contrast in Henne in the second half of last season, it will be more beneficial in the long run. Blake is the future of the team and I don't think you can complain about winning if it's starting to click for him. Anyways, I think we end up winning 2-3 of the remaining five games. We'll split with Houston, beat Tennessee, and maybe beat New York on Sunday.
Exactly!  The most important thing by far for this team right now is for Blake to be the guy.  How many swing an misses in the 1st round can one team make?  In the last 10 years or so, we've hit on what, one?  And he doesn't even play here anymore?  Pitiful. Plus, we've arguably never had an elite QB.  I hope blake tears it up and we win out!

I agree with your take here. If we're somehow able to pull off 5-11, I'd be thrilled.

I still see a lot of potential on Blake, mainly because even though he's been making dumb mistakes lately, you can still see his tenacity on the field. I think that's the most important quality in a QB.

Quote:You know what sucks?  Having this exact same conversation year after year on this board.  I'm so sick of it.  I hope we win out and never stoop to this level again.

If we win out and finish 6-10 I think I'll cry.

Tears of Joy?  Me too!
Quote:Ever heard of 'Any Given Sunday'? It seems to be quite popular here...

I never thought losing season after losing season would be acceptable to fans. Oh, and I DON'T TYPE IN ALL CAPS.  :teehee:

I was pretty sure you'd come up with that one. Who said it's acceptable? So what are you going to do about it? Write an angry post about being PROFESSIONAL?

That will help.
Quote:I just reviewed the Jags schedule for this season.

- Philadelphia (8-3)

- Washington (3-8)

- Indianapolis (7-4)

- San Diego (7-4)

- Pittsburgh (7-4)

- Tennessee (2-9)

- Cleveland (7-4)

- Miami (6-5)

- Cincinnati (7-3-1)

- Dallas (8-3)

- Indianapolis (7-4)

Our schedule's actually been pretty brutal, and the team's been pretty close in a lot of them. However, 4 of our next 5 games are against teams with losing records. Hopefully we're able to see the Jags pull out some W's against weaker competition. Houston, Tennessee, and New York are all very beatable teams.

Pretty close in a lot of them? 8 of the 11 games were double digit losses. Being in it at the half doesn't constitute 'close' when you get blown out early in the 3rd quarter. Also, ten of those opponent wins are from losses by the Jags. For example, Indy is 5-4 against the rest of the league.

I expect us to win the tacks game. The Jets and Giants are beatable, but probably losses nonetheless. I doubt we can beat Houston.

There's "any given Sunday" and then there's "Jaguars week"

Lol!

I hate this damn picture of his ugly mug!
Quote:Where did he say anything about excuses? What about partial explanations? Reasons?

Oh, those don't fit for a guy who TYPES IN ALL CAPS. I guess that just means you want it more.
The origin of the thread is a damn excuse, don't know what the hell you're talking about. We played some good teams, so what? You want all teams like the Jags and the Radiers on your schedule to make you feel better? This team is pure trash and is no where near ready to compete for the playoffs. All this zombie fanbase does is come up with excuses to justify this suck. I'm not even worried about them winning another game this year so I know we'll have the top pick. At least we get something for the pain.
Quote:I'm a fan too. Wouldn't mind some close losses, but getting the number 1 pick leads to acquiring more picks which is what the franchise needs at this exact moment in time.
Give me a break. Being in position to win a game that we don't would get you even more bent out of shape.

Quote:Ya but picking, say 5th, means the talent that we already have is coming together.  Way better and there will still be a stud on the board, guaranteed.

I agree with that.   Winning is much better than picking first, because it means the program is finally gaining some traction.   It's also good for morale and would give us a little momentum going into next year.   Besides, look at the draft picks last year and tell me how Clowney is a better pick than say, Odell Beckham.  In fact, if you look at last year's first round picks, most of them weren't even very important to their team's results this year.  At some point, the Caldwell/Bradley program has to produce results on the field, or else the players will mentally check out, and we will be doomed to repeating the process all over again.   That means winning, not "going for the #1 pick."

Man losing has really taken a toll on you guys. I think its the message board too. I stayed off of here for a while, now I see things objectively.

Having the #1 pick is not a guarantee of getting more picks, but  the possibility is pretty high...I'm not a fan of playing to lose, or intentionally losing...

I'm old school...I come from the generations who believed in: Not everyone makes the team, only the winners get trophies/ribbons/medals etc. if you suck, either get better or get out...You play the as hard as you can, the best you can, and give everything you have into the game, if you lose, suck it up and move on to next week...

I hate losing as much as the next guy, and I'm as frustrated as everyone else, but playing to lose is the same as giving up and that's just not in me to do...

Who promised you anything? You gonna hold your breath until you turn blue if things don't improve? Man, what a sense of entitlement.

Fortunately this fan base and board (mostly) have adults who don't cry and curl up into a ball. And what "pain" are you talking about exactly?

Do you even have a clue as to what you're doing on here? Seems to be nothing but attacking fans of the team, like a jackass.

You honestly seem about as clueless as the OP of this thread. Lets spin yet another terrible Jaguar year into something that it's not. This team is complete garbage and hasn't shown any signs of improvement. The D line plays with heart and is top 5 in sacks this year and other areas that were previously good have fallen in the place of them. Get a clue, and drop the high horse act.

Oh, and apparently you haven't been reading very many comments on this board, because there are more people on here that are tired of the BS going on in Jacksonville for so long than people that are positive for this team.

Fans? You morons just bash the team and get mad because it offends real fans.

Grow a pair Nancy. If you can't take it, don't dish it out.

That's some sage advice right there.  If memory serves, you were one of the regular rabble rousers back in the day but the quality of your posts has increased dramatically unless I'm thinking of someone else.  Good for you.

No one is saying people aren't entitled to criticize players, coaches, GMs or the decisions that are made.  There is plenty of room for that.  It's the posts that come across as irrational and overly emotional in negative way that get on the people's nerves.  Those posts usually come from those that had unrealistic expectations coming into the season and a lack of understanding as to the process involved.

The fact that someone points out that our schedule to date has been brutal and some feel the need to destroy this narrative is evidence of these folks letting their emotions get the better of them.  Even if you take away those teams' wins against the Jaguars, only 2 teams have losing records and 1 team would be at .500.  The rest all still have winning records and many will be in the playoffs.  Schedules don't get more brutal than that 11 games in.

what else is there to do really? we as fans don't have a say in what happens in the front office or in football matters...even if we did, I'd put much more faith in the people who see what's happening each and everyday. We only see the games, not anything else that's going on behind closed doors, or what decisions are being made or even what is being mulled over...There is really nothing we can do as fans other than get pissed off, rant, rave and throw fits and fight among ourselves but in the end, we are going to make no difference in anything...All we can do is sit, watch, and wait, and hope that the people making the decisions are right...There's really nothing else we can do even though we don't like what's happening, we can't change anything..

There is no reason for someone to rant and rave and whine when a fact is brought to the board that helps keep things in perspective. If ranting and raving and whining is all someone has to offer, then they need to find something else to do to occupy their time.

No one on this board is creating the "misery" that the emotionally immature posters are feeling and most people on this board are tired of constantly hearing about it. We come here to discuss actual jaguar football not to hear repeatedly by the same group of posters how sick they are of it.

This is a sports forum. If they want to let people know how miserable and emotionally immature they are, then they need to take their incessant rants to a psychology board or to their momma, because nothing constructive will come from doing it here.

I have a sense of entitlement because I want a team that's in the business of winning to do just that? Damn you're dumb. We're three years away from a decade of not being in the playoffs and it's pretty much guaranteed we won't make it next year if Gus comes back. I'm not gonna hold nothing but continue to say this team sucks until they turn it around. Don't like it so what. The fanbase and adults you're talking about who dont "cry and curl up" is stupid but good for you and your patience. Keep being that while I whine about the product.
