what sucks is that we're pretty much forced to spend a lot this year (if you  listen to  Khan).... most players worth a lot of money will get resigned and franchised..

I see us getting 5-8 free agents for above average contracts.

A team full of Zane Beadle's

Yeah there will be many on the list that get franchised.  Look at the teams like Dallas and Denver that have more than one big name guy hitting free agency though.  Those teams can't franchise them all and I'm sure the players' agents are encouraging them to try to hit free agency where they will get a bigger pay day.  I think we'll have a shot at several very good players and Julius Thomas and Demarco Murray will be among them as I don't believe either will get franchised.  Julius Thomas coming here would be a nice addition.
It would be a good time to start discussing a contract extension with Scobee. He's making $4.2 mil this year, and is set to make $4.4 mil next year in his last year under contract.

I thought I'd make a list of the 2015 cap savings if cut during the offseason from highest to lowest down to about $1 mil in savings. Just keep in mind that the team has plenty of cap space so it may not be essential to make cap saving cuts.

JAGUARS 2015 CAP SAVINGS IF RELEASED

1. Paul Posluszny - $7.5 mil

2. Marcedes Lewis - $6.8 mil

3. Chris Clemons - $4.5 mil

4. Red Bryant - $4.25 mil

5. Ziggy Hood - $3.975 mil

6. Sen'Derrick Marks - $3.625 mil

7. Chad Henne - $3.5 mil

8. Josh Scobee - $3.45 mil

9. Zane Beadles - $3 mil

10. Justin Blackmon - $2.91 mil

11. Toby Gerhart - $2.5 mil

12. Tyson Alualu - $2.44 mil

13. Clay Harbor - $1.5 mil

14. Andre Branch - $1.08 mil

15. Will Blackmon - $.92 mil

I hope not to see Poz, Lewis, or Henne (Draft late round backup/project).  The rest should stick.

Julius likely will be franchised since he's a TE.

Poz consistently played lights out often giving the Jaguars at least the opportunity to win. I don't understand the resentment towards him merely because he has a large cap hit. Lewis can prove a bit more for the money, but I still envision him sticking around.

Good point. That means Demaryius will be the one likely hitting free agency then. If he's trying to get the most money he can, and he should be, then we'll be able to make a pretty good run at him if we want to.

I'm gonna guess they get a deal done for Demaryius, and then franchise Julius. Quite frankly, unless some of these younger guys for some reason are not tagged by their teams, this looks to be a pretty bleh free-agent crop. We'll find some solid guys, but we'll spend more than what they are worth.

All comes down *still* to Dave's draft classes improving. If this doesn't happen, I don't think it matters who we bring in...
If we're going to overpay, then overpay for the best. Overpay for DeMarco Murray.

Haha, i have no resentment whatsoever toward Poz, i just think he's on the downward side of his career and not worth the hit.  If they can get him for cheap, sure keep him around.
Suh, Hardy, Iupati, and McCourty. The rest is gravy.

The chances of Murray living up to a FA contract are between slim and none. No thank you.
I think they sign 2 pro bowl guys (higher salary than beadles) and a couple more high quality players. Hopefully TE, LB, RT, CB.

Murray is a top 5 back for sure, but on this team he comes no where close to his production on the cowboys right now.

Dallas is going to Larry Johnson him. I'd stay far away.
I'd stay away from DeMarco Murray.

He's been injury prone his entire career.

I'd rather draft Duke Johnson.  Looks like a deep RB draft this year.  Between Melvin Gordon, Duke Johnson, and a falling (due to injury) Gurley, we can get younger and potentially better than Murray.

Injury prone, having a career year and also likely close to a 400 carry season. Not a lot of good indicators there.
Demarco? lol. All he has to do is hold onto the ball.

I agree with you, but to play devil's advocate this is really his only season of a heavy workload. His first three seasons he averaged 180 carries per season. Larry had a couple seasons over 300 carries, one being over 400, and was well on his way to another one when he finally broke down. There will be plenty of other players who I'd rather us spend our money on, but I think whoever signs Murray will have a great back for the next couple seasons should they manage his workload properly.
