Quote: Unfortunately,  it's rarely that simple.   Sometimes change is necessary.   But usually,  the problems are noticeably deeper than a specific coach.

My take on the Jaguars from the distance is the biggest obstacle for the team currently is a combination of the team depending heavily on relatively inexperienced players on Offense and a need to upgrade the talent in the back 7 on the Defense.   While I do believe there will be Assistant Coach changes on the Jaguars staff for 2015,  it won't be until next year to truly gauge whether the team should continue with Dave Caldwell and/ or Gus Bradley.

I agree, there is a public relations aspect to the NFL and some assistant coach will be thrown overboard. I'm guessing Special Teams, because they've been real bad.

And I kind of find it weird how everyone howls about the OC when they talk about Bortles, but no one ever mentions the QB coach. It's like the Jaguars don't have one. I guess that's just not as cool as wanting to draw and quarter J. Fisch.
What, no Taylor Swift?

We are never, ever, getting back to the playoffs.

I expect all the staff to be back next year. They ALL KNOW there jobs are on the line next year.

That will never happen. Gus will be here next year no mater what the Jaguars record is at the conclusion of this puke fest. The leash gets tighter next year. :geek:
I wouldnt worry about that.

In GUS We trust

he'll be here next season and the team will improve.

I didn't want to create a new thread, and I don't want to hijack this thread, but I have a question regarding a college coach. How come Urban Meyer has never coached in the NFL. He has been very successful in college, and I am just wondering if it is due to money, and if not does anyone know why?
It's been quite a while since we've had an intellectual coach here in Jacksonville.  Quite frankly, I'd say Tom Coughlin was our only coach that could develop players and outsmart the other coaches in game planning.   TC fell short to Jeff Fisher but JF is one of the best coaches over the past 20 years.

That brings me to Urban Meyer.  It's obvious Urban worked his magic making Chris Leak look like Russell Wilson in his 1st year at UF in leading them to the championship and once again, Urban is working magic up in Columbus winning the Big10 in big wins vs MSU (with a backup QB), and beating WISC (with a 3rd string QB).

Gus has another year BUT if next year repeats the past 2 years, is it time to go with a coach with the intellect of Urban or someone else that may be able to game plan and make halftime adjustments that keeps us 1 step ahead of the opponent.  Saban would be another good candidate (like Pete Carroll) in making a 2nd attempt at the NFL but he's already at $7.5m per year so he's no going anywhere.

I'd be up for anyone that can actually develop players, game plan, and make in-game adjustments!

At this point I'm fine with any offensive minded coach. Our team hinges on Bortles development so we need to get him all the help we can.

I don't care if the coach is offensive or defensive minded.  I want a man who is cut out to be a head coach.  A man who is a true leader at heart and will get the most out of every man on the roster.  We need someone that will set the bar high for the entire team and hold the team accountable.  We've got to stop blaming the OC if the coach is defensive minded or vise versa.
I said when Jags fired JDR,they should hire fisher, but no they let rams have him. They have 6 wins, and are still in the playoff hunt. Meanwhile jags are going to have a worse record then last year. y dad said the team is rebuilt, and a team with a seconed year head coach should show improvement, and jags show 0.

There's nothing wrong with having a defensive head coach as long as he doesn't hire a stiff as OC.

I posted in the 2015 NFL Head coaches thread yesterday about him. I will ask my question here. Does anyone know why Urban has not coached in the NFL yet?
Heck at this point, bring in Pope Urban XVI for all I care...

I just want to see a good team that looks dangerous on both sides of the the ball on a consistent basis

I do wonder how he would do in the NFL, not sure I want him as a Jag but I mean if it happens I'll go with it.
