Quote:93? Packers beat that in 2 games back to back.
Quote:Wow. The scoring by quarter is alarming (in a season in which I really did think we were making progress prior to the London trip).
Quarters 1-2-3
Opponents 218 points
Jags 93 points
So our average score entering the 4th quarter is 19.8 - 8.5.
sigh.

It's really crazy when you put it into perspective just how bad the Jaguars are.
It's a different NFL today than it was 10+ years ago. It's expected that a decent team should score in the 20's as a normal matter of course. Good teams should score in the 30's regularly, and elite teams should regularly eclipse 40 points.
That the Jaguars have broken 30 points just once in the last 32 games is really alarming.

I had to double check you...unless I'm miscounting it was actually over the last 33 games but WOW that is absolutely eye opening!
Add in the next 5 games this season and it'll be 38 games with only 1 scoring over 30 points...just WOW!

And even that 30 point game was an extremely unusual game. Took a whole lot of blown coverages against the texans for it to happen. You have to reach back another 10 games before that for the next 30 point game.
You have to go back to 2010 and David Garrard to find the last season that the Jaguars score 30 points in a game more than once.

There are 11 teams averaging more than 24 ppg (our single highest output). We are league worst in points per game for and against. That's pathetic.

Raiders > Jags
Quote:It's not just the colts. It's literally every game the Jaguars play.
Halftime adjustments aren't huge changes aren't the same as gameplanning all week, but it's clear there's something happening to allow the other team to decide on what they need to do in the second half to blow the Jaguars away.
Its as if the defense gets tired by the 2nd half and cant maintain the great performance?
Quote:Great point...and anything done in the 4th is garbage time against 2nd and 3rd string players.
I understand the point you are making - but you are really, really wrong on this one. ^
Several games this season have been one or two possession (winnable) games for the Jags early in the fourth quarter.
In many those games - "garbage time" didn't come until several minutes into the fourth.
Jags scored 68 points in the 4th quarter. 24 of those points came against the Colts and Cowboys in which they were losing 30-3 and 31-7 going into the 4th quarter.
If you throw out those 2 games as garbage time ..... we've scored 44 points in the 4th quarter in 9 games. That's an average of 5 points per game in the 4th quarter. I guess that's better than the 8 points per game in the 1st 3 quarters.
Quote:Pretty simple really. They don't trust Blake to not throw INT's. I'm not really sure what to make of it. By the end of the third quarter I was just laughing because there wasn't anything else to do.
There is another option, stop watching. Thats what I did.
Quote:Its as if the defense gets tired by the 2nd half and cant maintain the great performance?
No, you don't suddenly get tired at half time.
It's something much more than that. If it were just getting tired then in games where the Jaguars played well in the first half (like the San Diego game) the other team would come out as the tired one, not the Jaguars.
Quote:Adjustments? What adjustment? This team only has one game plan every game day and stick with it no matter what.
That same thing has been said about the JDR years too...It's a common thing since Coughlin left

And a lot of that has to do with what?....QB play.
Its that important in today's league.
Quote:And a lot of that has to do with what?....QB play.

Exactly. It's been since 2010 since the Jaguars had a good QB, and even then Garrard was just a starting level game manager.
The Jaguars have gotten nothing but extremely low quality QB play since then.
This is starting to become a big concern of mine. I feel we haven't had a coach who makes halftime adjustments since Coughlin, but this is getting ridiculous. I don't see Fisch putting together a gameplan to attack opposing defenses' weaknesses like the good coordinators do. It's like his gameplan is the same now as it was in week 1, go out there and run the same 3 plays. We have got to be the easiest offense to game plan for, because we literally change nothing week to week. Every time we're in a close game going into the half I already know we're going to lose because it's a given we're going to be out coached.

Well, you know, things were looking so good in the first half, why would you mess with that kind of success at halftime?
I'm sure every play Fisch calls worked in his head, and the only problem was the ineptness of the guys on the field.
I've come to the conclusion that there are just not enough halves in the current NFL game for Gus and company to be successful after any of them.

This group of Coaches/GM never have.

Too many halves. The problem for Gus is that games have a second half.
