With 1st and goal at the 1 yard line, the Jags did the following:
* Incomplete pass to Lee
* Run Robinson for -2 yards
* Incomplete pass to Lee
Gerhart ran 4 times for 31 yards for an average of 7.8 yards per carry. He finally looks healthy again and looks like the dude Caldwell thought they were getting in the offseason. With that said, don't you bang Gerhart behind your highly paid offseason acquisition LG Zane Beadles and the #2 Draft pick LT Luke Joekel to get the TD ?? IF WE CAN'T DO A POWER RUN WITH OUR Highest Paid RB (Gerhart) over our Highest Paid offseason acquisition (Beadles) and our Highest Draft Pick (Joekel) under the Caldwell era does this mean Caldwell's acquisitions are an epic failure or our OC is terrible ------- OR BOTH ??
I would prefer to roll Bortles out and give him the option to pass or run it in. Use the tight end ona play fake much like every other team in the NFL does.

Its because theyve tried that most of the season and failed, so he tried to credit Lee with a TD after a huge play... the robinson run was trying to get the TD. Then he said what the heck lets try Lee again...
The play calling wasnt horrible its players not plays...
they have to execute and they did not. That catch to lee in the corner endzone was catchable Bortles made a decent pass that ive seen many WRs make but he's a rookie... so..
Why was Marcedes on the sideline for the last play?
2014 Season Story... "Play Calling for Draft Picks"
I watched at a loud bar, so someone help me out..
Didn't we
Pass to lee
Run denard
Marcedes
Pass to Lee again
And then pass incomplete that was a near pick
I thought we had an extra play that the refs missed. I know I probably missed something

colts called a timeout before the pass to Marcedes.
I didn't like the pass to Marcedes anyway. He's not a guy with great hands so throwing a bullet at his body with tight coverage seems pretty stupid, but maybe Bortles is just so bad that he meant to throw a high floater and it just came out that way.
Oh ok, thanks. I didn't see the timeout.
Bortles probably was supposed to float it, but he missed yet again.

That first interception he threw looked like Mettenberger's first INT on MNF. I don't like seeing that kind of stuff. Throwing a poorly aimed pass at a guy with tight coverage on a sideline pass... I felt fortunate that it didn't turn into an instant touchdown.
I'm really just generally sick of seeing all of the short passes against tight coverage in general. Try to throw someone open, put a double move on someone. Float one deep and let a guy fight for it. The short passes to someone that will get instantly tackled if it's not picked off are just plain stupid.

Joining reality and starting to question the coaches I see? Welcome aboard.

It was a poorly thrown ball to Lewis that should have been up in the area where only he had an opportunity to catch it. That pass had no loft at all on it. Even with his suspect hands, I'd be fine with the play call if Bortles had made the right pass. What kills me is that on the very next play, they took their biggest target out of the game. Makes no sense at that point if you're going for it on 4th down to take one out of the chamber.

I know this is going to go completely over your head, but one can question coaching without doing so incessantly.

I completely agree. Coaching looks like it's not helping anything this year, which means Caldwell probably needs to find the hot prospect and clean house now.
No point in sticking with observably bad to mediocre at best coaching.
Our coaches are outmatched every single week, just like pretty much all our position groups except the defensive line.
The result is 1-10
Fisch is not capable of play calling at this level. It has become more than clear.
Someone stated running 1 yard has failed all year. I agree, however, Toby is looking healthy again. As much as I ripped on him in the past, the dude was bangin' yesterday. It's almost as if they were trying to get Lee a TD .... kind of like you do with that kid in 8 year old flag football that never scored.
You pound that rock four times until it's in or you failed. If you failed you didn't deserve it.

Gerhart was looking like the guy he was expected to be yesterday, and he was fighting for every yard. He would have been the better option if the intention was to run it into the line the way they did with Robinson. Denard is not going to win that battle.
To be fair, Denard has run well in goal line situations.
Our offensive line let him down yesterday.
We need to be run heavy around the goal line. Bortles has shown he's a liability when passing the ball.
