except the committee. all i said was i could understand if FSU gets left out and then the FSU fanboys spun it into this.

I also don't think the committee is picking the best 4 teams...I honestly think they are more worried about sending "messages" and trying to pick the best matchups...not rank the teams as they seem them.

They are not leaving out an 13-0 team from a Power 5 conference.

i agree with this. with the caveat of picking teams that wont send the media into a frenzy. like if FSU got left off there would be an insane outcry. i know an argument can be made but the point of the committee is just to pick the 4 teams they think was the best. so if they picked some teams and there was controversy id really just like them to say "this is who we think is the best, the end."

The controversy won't be eliminated by this playoff system. It won't be eliminated by inviting 8 teams either.

 

I was in the minority on this from the start. People thought a playoff system would put the best 4 teams into it each with an equal chance of winning the title. But we've always had a bona fide champion in the BCS system except for possibly one year. If you expand it to 8 teams you'll still have #9 and #10 and others complaining they beat #7 or #4 and arguing who played who.

I definitely agree that you can argue Noles aren't one of the best 4 teams, but at the same time they have won the field week after week.  So regardless they are proving it on the field.  You can make an argument for and against them, but on the field they deserve to be in the playoffs if they go undefeated regardless of what you think.

With the BCS, there were times the actually best team in the country wasn't in the National Championship game. Notre Dame would have made the NC game over a 1 loss Alabama, and we know that Notre Dame <<<< Alabama.

Yup. They should have had a chance to play for the National Championship. With no bowl bans, Notre Dame likely plays Ohio St. that year and the best team in the country, Alabama, is possibly left out of the chance to compete for a NC. Not sure if you're trolling or what, but the 2-team BCS system was bogus.

watching them play you can just see that they arent one of the top 4 teams. Bama, Oregon, TCU, Miss St, Baylor, and Georgia I would say are just overall better teams. I'm weary of Baylor though just because of past experiences but can't really weigh past seasons on a different team.


FSU is pretty much on par with Ohio State for me.

Last I checked FSU had no blemishes on our record. Those other teams do. FSU plays in a power 5 conference and is undefeated....so yea they are one of the best teams in the country...o btw..27-0 and counting. Haters gonna hate.

Why? Its supposed to be the best 4 teams. Not the best four teams including teams from power 5 conferences with no losses.

My point is; the playoff system, theoretically, was to eliminate the controversy of selecting which teams played for the title. It doesn't.

 

I look at it like this; those seniors playing their final game in their respective bowls are most likely playing their final game of organized football for their life. What's wrong with half of the teams going into the real work world, chests stuck out in pride, saying we were the Rose Bowl Champs, we were the Sugar Bowl Champs, etc.?

 

With the playoff system those kids are all losing their final game of football except for the one team taking home the trophy. It's amateur football folks, played by kids, let them march into the real world with pride. They won't have another chance.
