I just don't see Winston and Mariota like Luck and RG3. I just want to win to get momentum into next season but I also want a kings ransom for the number 1 pick and that will set this franchise up many winning seasons to come. We can trade down still get Gregory or Oakman and have future picks.

Awwwwweeee Yeahhhh....

This is exactly what we need. Tank the remainder of the season for ideal drafting position. Nevermind pulling ourselves of the cellar. We want to stay in the cellar???

I'm not confused at all but I'm unable to wrap my head around the theory of intentionally losing for better draft positioning...

I want to tank this season so we can get the #1 pick so we can setup our franchise and build it into a winning team. It worked for the Patriots, Broncos, Steelers, Ravens, Packers, and Saints we will be the next team to do it.

Seriously tho, what teams have traded their picks for huge ransoms? I can think of the Browns who did it with the Falcons...I can think of the Rams who did it with the Redskins. Where are those 2 teams?

Don't forget the saints trading their entire draft for Ricky Williams

It happens every few year when their is a perceived can't miss prospect on top of the board. In general it seems to work out best for the team trading away the pick.

Unfortunately, there doesn't appear to be one of those guys out there this year so It doesn't look like we will have a good chance of trading back.

There's almost always a chance of trading back from the very top of the draft, you just have to ask for the right price to do it and NOT the Kings ransom the Texans were asking last year. That was just ridiculous.
Here is the thing....we don't exactly have to "try" to tank. We suck. Bottom line. There is a good chance we "tank" while trying our absolute best.

We don't need a kings ransom for the 1st pick. I'd be happy with an additional high 2nd. We just need more picks. High ones preferred.

Exactly.

Move back a few spots and get a DE in the 1st round, then possibly a RT and TE in round 2.

We have some good young players on the O-line, but Pastor could be upgraded and Lewis will likely get cut to save his $7M salary, so surrounding Bortles with more talent is critical this offseason.

I don't get how some people think that winning a meaningless game or two at this point in the season does anything.  We suck - the draft is the most exciting thing we have to look forward to.
People are under the impression momentum can actually be carried across seasons.

Winning shows you're getting better.

I want proof that this team is getting better.  No better way than playing a game that has set rules and beating the other team that's trying just as hard as you.

I wish we were getting better to - but our record speaks otherwise.  We are what our record says we are.

I want extra draft picks.  If we can get some gems like Linder, Bowanko, T. Smith, etc. then I can see us turning the corner and being more competitive next year.

I don't get how some people believe losing on purpose is a good thing. Football is a competitive sport, when you're down by 21 points at the half do you want a team that's going to fight to win the game or do you want a team that starts looking forward to the following week? I want a team that's going to fight and not quit, you don't get both. As for us sucking, I just don't agree. I saw us put up a fight against the chargers who ended up blowing out the jets. I saw us hold the Steelers to 0 tds (their O), but then Ben threw for 5 tds a few games later and they beat the colts. I saw us nearly beat the titans in a game that came down to the wire, I saw us have a chance to nearly beat the dolphins when no one gave us a chance. You clearly see us as a pure crap team...I see us as a team of rookies who still fight and claw to win. Thank god you're not our coach.

How did that workout for either team? Did either team turn the player/picks into a SB ring? (Serious question as I don't know the outcome I just know I've heard the story). I cannot recall a team trading multiple picks to acquire 1 player and then they turn around and dominate/win a ring, nor can I recall a team trading away a top pick and turning the extra picks into a dominate team. I of course could be wrong here but nothing seems to come to mind.

Don't worry about those who want more loses. If the Jaguars end up with more they will have earned them.

These guys are professionals, with careers on the line. They'll be no tanking involved.

Though all of your points are correct you don't have to worry trying to convince anyone. The Jags aren't listening to them anyway.

That trade was between the saints and Washington.

While neither team made the super bowl with those picks, the saints had Williams for only 3 years while the redskins turned the picks into 3 time All-Pro LB LaVar Arrington and future HOFer Champ Bailey.
