Telvin will start Sunday at the Weak Side LB position. We'll see how he performs throughout the game. BUT, I've paid special attention to his play. He seriously gets blowed away by O-linemen. I mean straight out of the picture. He's an non factor against the run game for the most part. As many have stated, he's too light but he has plenty of talent...

Telvin has to put on 20+ lbs...

Why stop there? Get up to 275 and he can play DE.

Now you're taking it way too far. Plenty of successful LB's in the last 15 years playing under 240 - and they weren't playing in today's pass heavy era or in Bradley's defence.
Well guys, we will be seeing a lot of Telvin against Luck, that is for sure. We need him to take away Fleener over the middle.

Me taking it too far is an Overstatement...

Telvin and the coaching staff feels as I've stated. He MUST gain weight to compete daily w/The Big Boys...

Plain and Simple. He has the talent but lacks the weight...

He's Good and he'll prevail, but as an Long Term LB solution... Weight Gaining-Is-A-Must...

Telvin certainly impressed at times. He also played better at covering the TE. Even though he was Sideline 2 Sideline at times, he lacked the authority to put fear in the opposing offense (personal opinion)...

Nevertheless his play was respectable to say the least. He may be a Better Fit @ the WSLB (Will) position for sure...

Good Job Telvin, regardless of the weight issue...

You said he needs to put on 20+ pounds. So yes, that is taking it too far.

Tell that to the Jaguar coaching staff. As of this second, Telvin is at 218 lbs. Adding 20 lbs. puts him at 238 lbs. as an LB of any position...

Is that the proper/average size of an average LB or Not?

NH3...
Guess who lead in tackles, Telvin Smith 9-3 the only one close was SS Cyprien 4-4.  Not to mention Telvin Smith did make a couple great tackles on the RB which a few said he couldnt do (in fact i think at least one of them was for a loss behind the line).

I think Telvin will play around 10 lbs heavier, around 228-230 lbs.

He Well basically weigh as much as Geno Hayes, who's also around 230.

It should be enough. Hopefully we can get another stud LB in FA or the draft.i would be fine with Poz, Telvin, some other stud, with JT Thomas backing up everyone.

You want all our LB to resemble the great POZ don't you!?!?

Lol jk. But I agree he needs to put some weight on. He's going to be bullied around by bigger guys

Telvin POZ JT? Or are we going to address LB in Draft?
12 tackles yesterday. This coaching staff kept him on the bench in the games before. Of well what do we expect?

I think the same. He will never make 235-240
I agree that LB should be addressed in either the draft or FA if nothing else for depth, but what has really killed us this year is CB & Safety!

He also recovered a fumble (maybe two). He was a monster in the first half, but faded a bit in the second half. That might have been because the clots started hitting on their passing game after halftime (and we all know that halftime adjustments are a myth).

He was very dominant the first half, but on a play where he tackled the RB for a loss his helment came off while others started to hit the pile.. not sure if he got his bell rung a bit & just didnt report it.

A nickel linebacker for the Jaguars’ first 10 games, rookie Telvin Smith was moved into a base-down role because of Jeremiah George’s ankle injury (out a second consecutive game) and the release of Dekoda Watson.

Smith responded with two fumble recoveries and a team-high 12 tackles.

“He’s always around the football,” linebacker J.T. Thomas said. “That’s his thing and that’s what he’s known for.”

Smith’s first takeaway this year was an interception that helped seal the win over Cleveland

His speed is a nice asset.  Hopefully 10 lbs of muscle can not slow him down but increase his effectiveness shedding blocks and tackling.

Telvin played "Lights Out" yesterday. Twelve tackles to lead the team as he solidified his future at the WLB position. Yes, I do believe that Telvin has put an Choke Hold on the position. He was much more active, always around the ball, covered the pass well, displayed guided missle type instinks against the run and don't get me started on his ST thumping... That was an awesome hit...

He definately needs to bulk up as I feel that he will BUT please, please, please Telvin don't lose that speed...

Awesome game young man...

CYP37N and Gratz played subpar. More Gratz as he has consistently allowed receivers to run at will due to his lack of press playing ability...

McCray has faired Much Better...

I'm still undecided on Telvin. Yes, his size is an issue, but he will thicken up over the next few years. I'm not sure if I'm seeing him make great plays, or if my recent lack of seeing good plays just makes him look better. :geek:
