Quote:Americus, the truly sad thing about your post and sentiment is the unrecognized entitlement of the right-wing. The republican feeling that somehow society reached its apex when they were born, and the time for giving back to grow society and make sure everyone could live a decent life ended and that it's now time for "I got mine jack".

Jack up college prices, get rid of public education, eliminate trade barriers so that people who are already wealthy can make even more money by moving all of the decent jobs for people of low to average mental abilities to 3rd world nations.

But, yeah, it's just dark skinned women on welfare (yes, I noticed this example lady was dark skinned. I'd have actually been surprised if the video had been of a white welfare recipient, but that doesn't fit with the right-wing narrative)
are the only ones in the USA with entitlement issues.

Ok Commie

Point 1, my brother and I both started at the bottom mixing morter and carying brick and block around. I worked my way up to Truck Driver (before I had my accident the put me out of commision) and he's now running jobs, We're BOTH republicans and worked  for what we have. No one said I got mine so you can't have anything to us. We went after what we wanted and got it.

Point 2, WHO runs the college systems, I'll tell you who, the freaking Libs. Lib Professors, lib deans, al these liberal get tenure and a job for life. They shut down any voice of opposition. Why the hell do you think they made "Free Speech Zones" (in out of the way places). It's the Libs jacking up college cost in all these Ivy League, Pac 10, ACC, SEC, Etc, schools

Keep on preaching from your Carl Marx handbook.......Like the Beatles said "But if you go carrying Pictures of Chairman Mao, You ain't going to make it with anyone anyhow....."

Hey, I just post stuff and comment. I am not a right winger. And I don't care whether or not she's white, brown, black. I saw this on someone's newsfeed and thought it to be an interesting subject to talk about.

I agree that there are MANY faults with the Right. Many. I think there are so many problems in this country that there is no fixing any of it. Ever.

And some of the folks I mentioned in my initial post whom I worked with and lived around were whites with entitlement issues.

Quote:I haven't read the story, I don't really get into the bash welfare people groups. they're down as it is, I have a problem with the waste in the system not necessarily the system. Now I'd argue it would be 100% more efficient if it was done at a more local level (the state level for example) and I could even agree with the argument maybe private charities do a "better" job with welfare.
I don't think I bashed anyone. If I came across that way it wasn't my intention. I was trying to convey the fraud aspect from a personal experience standpoint (the people I worked with and lived around) and that there is plenty of it. I'm pretty sure I pointed that out. There are many folks who don't see anything wrong with how the system works, either because they benefit from the brokenness of it, or they just don't care.

Quote:I was expecting someone to be liek "I don't need no job, the government done give me my mo-ney."

The real problem is corporate welfare.

Even as early as 2006, nearly twice the money was spent on corporate welfare as on social welfare.
The girl doesn't think she should look for a job because she gets money from the government.

People don't have to sound like the typical 'I Want My Obama Phone' woman to say the same thing.

I honestly don't know much about corporate welfare so I'm not going to comment on it. I do know it's also wrought with fraud and that's never a good thing.

In the little Kentucky white trash town I lived in, drawing welfare was considered almost a duty.  A comment that unfailingly elicited a unison of head nods was "If you don't get them food stamps, someone else will."

Wasn't referring to you sorry if it came off that way. More about the sector of the right that always defaults to welfare and the ghettos as their favorite example of government waste

Qft
Promoting guilt was never intended to be a profession.

Take care of those who cannot take care of themselves.

Make those who can take care of themselves do exactly that. Help them through tough times, but do not allow entitlements be a career.

Gotcha. I am certainly not right wing, I just know what my experiences have been as a recipient of some entitlement programs (SNAP and government housing) as well as others I've mentioned. I guess it's a hot button issue for me because I see the pros and cons of the system and it frustrates me to no end that people who don't need it take from those who do. I just wish we lived in a world where it wasn't even necessary.

Excuse my including you in that, then.

Still applies to the oblivious white republican base that feels like they are entitled to take society's benefits without ever giving back to keep those benefits there for everyone else coming after them.

Trying to decide if all your political posts are funny...or sad
Quote:Yes, yes, you're so brilliant, drop the mic, walk off the stage, thanks for your contribution.

What are your qualifications and credentials?  Just curious as you seem to think you have a good grasp on economics and public policy.

What part was racist?

oh I don't know how about lumping an entire race of a political party into one group with a negative suggestion.

Claiming white republicans don't want to help the poor is just as racist as saying black democrats just want welfare so they don't have to work.

Well what about the generalizations Fox News drum up when they show a black woman and issues with the welfare system?

Kinda goes both ways.

Lol, and I thought you were just trying to make a cute joke.

Do you disagree that the republican base is majority white?

So the truth of a statement is the qualifier of weather or not it's racist?

I think you should go ahead, and in very definite terms, explain the racism in noting that the republican base is predominantly white. Parse it out for us.
