Quote:Excuse my including you in that, then.

Still applies to the oblivious white republican base that feels like they are entitled to take society's benefits without ever giving back to keep those benefits there for everyone else coming after them.
I honestly am not sure what you mean in the bolded sentence. Are you saying that white republicans take benefits that others should have but never contribute somehow? I think that's what you're saying. If so, give an example. I'm truly curious even if I don't agree with 99.9% of what you say. I'm willing to try to see another person's POV.

I know as a taxpayer I have given back to the programs with my tax dollars more than I ever used. I could not be a 'lifer' on government aid. It was there when I needed help and when I got back on my feet I was done with it.
Quote:I think you should go ahead, and in very definite terms, explain the racism in noting that the republican base is predominantly white. Parse it out for us.

There's nothing to parse out, you said and I quote "...the oblivious white republican base that feels like they are entitled to take society's benefits without ever giving back..." that's a racist comment.

1. you are saying the entire base of a political party that is white believes a specific way

2. you ignore the Black republicans, Hispanic republicans, Asian republicans and so on

3. you paint a picture that because they are white they are oblivious

it's no different then saying " the black democrats feel they are entitled to welfare" that would be an equally racist comment. I'm pointing to you someone that would be the first to jump on the racist label if someone where to say the above that your statements are racist.

just accept you're racist.

All of this makes sense. Sweeping generalizations are usually biased whether it's race or gender driven.

Or even situational. Just because Ted Bundy, Jeffrey Dahmer and Charles Manson- all white men- are/were murderers doesn't make all white men murderers.

Evil white republicans are evil. (Cliff notes version)

That's tragic. It's so sad that people with free will can be so easily swayed by perception.
Quote: The girl doesn't think she should look for a job because she gets money from the government.

People don't have to sound like the typical 'I Want My Obama Phone' woman to say the same thing.

I honestly don't know much about corporate welfare so I'm not going to comment on it. I do know it's also wrought with fraud and that's never a good thing.

Again, it's not what's being said.  It's the tone.  She sounds absolutely defeated.  Like finding a job is something she won't be able to do even if she does look.

And you really should look into corporate welfare.  Fortune 500 companies are getting more welfare from the government than many of these 'welfare queens'.  Way more.
Work for welfare was on of the best things we've done in a long time, I hate that it's gone.

I'm saying that society was built up by people that came before us, the society of today is reaping the benefits of planning from 70 years ago. (http://www.economist.com/news/united-sta...idging-gap)

Things like infrastructure and college education so inexpensive compared to current day that it was practically free, if not actually free in many cases.

Additionally things like the generational wealth and privilege of being born to the correct race or family.

I bolded your statement above because you derive benefits from living in a just and socially built society that you likely don't even begin to perceive or understand. Unless you have a relatively high income, and have for a long time, then it's quite likely that you haven't paid more in taxes than what you've benefited. Even if that's the case it's quite possible you haven't. The USA has been deficit spending on its social and infrastructural holdings for quite a long time now.

1. I didn't, I said the oblivious white republican base feels they are entitled to take society's benefits without ever giving back, that doesn't mean every white republican is oblivious, some of them understand what they're doing quite well.

2. I'm not ignoring anything, I'm talking about a specific group.

3. I knew reading comprehension wasn't your strong suit, but man, that one really takes the cake. Just no.

I'm not going to get into the racist comment you made about blacks, it's unsurprising that specific phrase would jump to your mind, though. I'll just say that you're acting defensively about a comment that had nothing to do with race as a label carrying any meaning with it and everything to do with a specific political base.

In closing, you're projecting, Eric.

Laughing See you just proved my point, you viewed the statement about one race, racist, The statement about another race, not racist. They are BOTH equally racist statements.

you racist.

Eric, you're suffering something called psychological projection. You are a racist, whether it's subliminal or overt, and as such you perceive others as being the same as yourself. Thus when someone mentions race in a discussion you instantly attach a stigma to it because of your own (unacknowledged?) racism.

Because you can't possibly believe you made a racist statement, it must be true that I am really the racist projecting my racism onto you? That's rich.

Wow. Hope you didn't hurt yourself from all that spinning!!

That sure was an awful lot of words to claim moral superiority.

No kidding.
Quote:Lol.....a few bad instances? For real? I agree that it is helpful to those who ACTUALLY need it, but there are far too many in this country who abuse it. Don't believe me? Come on over and live in the projects and ghettos for a little while. You have no idea. I do because I've lived there and knew and worked around folks with this mindset. Another thing they do is work just enough to have some actual (and extra) money but not enough to get kicked off of a program. They sell food stamps to get cash for whatever. They certainly don't use it to buy food. I got quite the education on how the system is abused when I worked and lived where I did in Jacksonville.

I'm not saying shut it down, I'm saying there needs to be much more oversight so there is much less fraud.
No matter what lefties will always have an excuse for these programs. There is 50% of Americans on some sort of government assistance. People know what to write on the forms to scam the system. Did you hear about the surfer band bum in California who doesn't get paid for these activities and buys lobster and steak with his EBT card. He said why get a job when he doesn't have to. Fraud. No matter which way you slice it.

I didn't hear about that. I would be too afraid of getting caught to try and cheat the system. That and it's just wrong.

Eric, it's either that or you're just an angry moron that doesn't even understand what racism is.

I've chosen to give you the benefit of the doubt and believe that you actually do know what racism is.

Now, I'm done with this silly "you're a racist because you mentioned race," exchange.

Somewhere there is a fat lady singing.  Although she is probably a rich white devil that does nothing to help society aside from riding on the backs of others of different races that she feels vastly superior to as she sings her jolly tune.   :teehee:
Quote:Do you just like repeating me?

No.

But to his point can you name a few members of the Republican party who has reached out to the urban community?
