We are bottom 5 in ToP, Yards/Game, and Points/Game.
People love to talk about the sacks. Sure we're getting pressure. But people are running and throwing all over us and putting up big points.
Through the halfway point of this season....we are worse in terms of ToP, Yards/Game and Points/Game than last season. Sure we've had injuries. But you cant tell me that our current defensive starters arent more talented than last year's defense. We started 3 rookies last year in the secondary towards the end of the season.....this year we have no rookies starting except Telvin.
What progress have we made?

The line got better. The back seven got worse. It's kind-of a wash in my mind.
The only silver lining is that McCray looks good covering. (needs to work on tackling though)
..and that we get to evaluate Colvin a bit in the coming weeks - who many feel would have been a second or third rounder if not for the injury.
It's all a wash, next season is when we will evaluate EVERYTHING.
It's a 3-year plan don't you remember? The first 2 years you suck and the 3rd year you are miraculously transformed into a playoff team. Where have you been?

How much better could we be in one year?
Evaluating next year's team will not be pleasant either
Come on guys, some people are still drinking the 3 year plan kool aid. They know that when we reach week one of 2015, we will be world beaters at every position.
Haven't you guys realized this yet??? Geez.. SMH!
How much better can we be? As well as most other Jag fans I expect to be better than 4 wins. This is pro football with pro athletes and at the very least we should be better than the previous year. If we're not, then we are going in the wrong direction. It's pretty simple.

Don't forget to add the INT's lost to TofP.
Also, Henne's 3 & outs counted for a good portion of lost TofP...

Ehhh...i get where u are coming from, and im right there with you in that i figured we would be better than 4 wins.... But i do thinnk our d has improved, the line is significantly better, i feel like we know who our cb's will be, we have been plagued with injuries but still manage to hold our team in most games.... I think we have certainly been more competitive than we were last year when considering there are more than a couple games we were one score away from late in the 4 th quarter .. But i will say its hard to not be discouraged when you look at just wins and losses.

Agreed... When looking at some of this on paper, its easy to over look the first 2 games where the d was on the field 800% of the time.

What progress have we made?
Does points per game include points given up by the offense and ST?
Does yards per game include ST returns? INT returns?

We don't even need the last 6 games to know which direction we're going in! :whistling:

Nah... We do need see the last 6 games.
Think about this... We're about to see how well the coaches can adapt...
We get 2 weeks for the coaches to prepare for the clots. We've already played them once. So we better come out and play them tough. Same with the tacks.
We play the tinhorns 2 times within like a month. So again, the coaches will have tape of all these division rivals. If these coaches are legit, we should see drastic improvement and wins.
I think the games prior to the bye, was a way for the players to get evaluated and get their experience in. Now the coaches and GM know what we got. The players have plenty of game reps and practice reps in. It's up to the coaches now to take this team and put them in the best positions to be successful.
The next 6 games are HUGE. Particularly the games against the division.

The Jags are a better team this year, but they just happen to have the same exact record as last year at this time, and soon to be worse record. Don't you know that by now.
The arrow is pointing up, no matter what the record says.

Well, the Jags did win 3 of 4 last year right after the bye, which just happens to be the same time we lost JB for the year, same as AR15 this year.
Could the Jags have a repeat of last years 2nd half??
Is there any way for a little Jag magic to occur like last year??
Is it possible?
So, our D-line is playing better than they played last year. Whoopeee! When the entire team is playing better than the opponent and notching victories is when we can declare the TEAM is better.

Yeah lipstick on the pig and it is still a pig. Now on the upside the pig is bacon but our team is more likely toast. Next year is going to be ugly to some measure.
In the preseason several threads were about the anticipated success of the team this year. I bet 90% said we would exceed 5 wins!

I
Update: 4-year Plan. Allen Robinson got hurt today. That set us back another year and give Gus another waiver year.
2016 or Bust !!
