The excuse makers on the board don't blame Caldwell or the coaching staff.  The excuse makers don't blame the players.  Note that many of these same excuse makers were behind Gene Smith and good old Jack.   Who is to blame?

This team is 1-9 in it's second year of a rebuild while spanked over half of those games.  Again we got embarrassed on the world stage.  There is little evidence of this team improving.  We might have  a player here and there playing better but overall the product still reeks.  We will always have those fans with blind faith but there has to be blame somewhere.  So who is to blame?  You can't blame previous regimes because pretty much all of their players are gone and it's all new regime players.

Global Warming.

George Bush. It's no coincidence that the team went downhill during his presidency.

Gene Smith.

Shack Harris.

My friend Marc. It's always Marc's fault.

Special teams failed miserably yet again. Cyprien looked like burnt toast out there. The whole defense forgot how to tackle, and the O-Line forgot how to block. It pains me to say it, but the only player who really shined out there today was Anger.

this!
In London it was mostly individual mistakes by a large number of players.

Most of the O-line  -  all of the linebackers at one point or another  -  most of the secondary -  and of course the QB (though he was mildly improved.)

The biggest enemy, as dozens have stated ad nauseam for weeks, is youth and inexperience.  Blows my mind how many posters don't want to accept that as a real reason that teams underperform.

That may be the reason but it was the GM who made this team so young.  Just because he took an action to gut the roster and sign all young guys does not make it the right one.  We are 1-9 so clearly it was not the right move for this season and last season. This regime is 5-21 since taken over.  That is not at all a confidence booster.  It may get better next season but there is no real sign of that happening right now.

Who should he have kept?  Daryl Smith and Jennings?  What's our record if they were still here?  There was no one else worth keeping.  Weren't you one of the ones calling to clean house and burn it down anyway?

There is a number of things but this is the biggest reason imo.
I blame society
A rookie qb to have success, if you go back and look at history almost all of then had a good TE/safety blanket. If we can get Julius Thomas or Jordan Cameron in free agency at the end of the year I think it could be huge fore Bortles. Even when Lewis comes back it will help
It's the fans fault.
It is, actually, my fault. Ever since I started supporting the Jags when they first came to London we have been pants.

Unfortunately, I'm committed now. Which is what our defence should try to be.

Inconsistent performance from players is typically the coaches fault.

Inconsistency from veteran players could be considered the coaches fault, but it is a normal characteristic of young players that can take years of coaching to overcome.

I agree with this.  Fans have unrealistic expectations.  They expect the team to actually be competitive, heck - maybe even win a few games.

Until people get rid of this concept of "winning" it's just going to be frustrating.
I think if you want to blame anything, blame the plan.   The plan is, to draft young players and develop them.   Unfortunately for the fans, that takes years. That's why most teams don't have the guts to do it.   I think it will work in the end, because if we stack up 3 or 4 or 5 good drafts in a row, we will have a very talented team that is young enough to stay at the top for years.

The commentators kept saying yesterday, we're the youngest team in the NFL.   It's easy to see the truth of that, with all the rookies and second year players out there.

I was watching a later game yesterday, and one of the commentators was saying that the most difficult position for a rookie to make an impact besides quarterback was wide receiver.  Well, we are starting a rookie quarterback and two rookie wide receivers!  Not to mention starting a rookie center, rookie right guard, second year left and right tackle, second year tight end, second year running back, two second year cornerbacks, two second year safeties, etc etc etc.

I admit, in the immediate aftermath of these losses, I want to fire everyone.   It takes about a day for me to cool off and realize, this is suffering we will have to endure, and that this plan might work.

We're an expansion team without the benefit of extra picks.
I blame it on a painful plan of building through the draft, that makes it hard to win in the shortterm.  My fear for the longer term is that the plan necessitates good picks; some of the key picks don't seem to be improving like you would like to see for players that should soon become the nucleus.  To fill these holes, I really hope they are able to attract some good free agents next off season.
