Quote:If FSU hasn't been found of any wrong doing then I don't see what the problem is here. FSU isn't the other schools across the country.

FSU fans on here are jumping all over those who have been on Winston even though he hasn't done anything wrong. Why not let the whole process take place and not simply assume the school is doing something wrong. It's a bit hypocritical I think. I'm confused now.

This is all cover for if/when they rule against Winston... He did nothing wrong, they supposedly school they love threw him under the bus!!
Quote:It's been found across the country that these types of hearings are not just. But we're straying very close to politics here. With a crime that has such serious repercussions for both the accused and the victim but is so hard to prove, I'm not sure what the answer is.

It's the American justice system complete with the legal protections provided for those accused of criminal activity. Universities have no cause to convene extra-legal tribunals staffed with biased academics with the authority to supersede the criminal justice system, this leads particularly to exposing males to unfounded bias and a presumption of guilt that no one would accept in an actual criminal courtroom.
Quote:I can't speak for all of them, but personally I feel the school shouldn't be responsible for investigating rape. That should be the police. I feel the process has taken place and the evidence doesn't support charging him with any wrongdoing. The school however, is required to conduct an investigation and hearing even if they feel the evidence suggests nothing happened and also legally required to disregard findings by law-enforcement.

There's one fairly well-known case where the guy was found guilty by the university tribunal and punished (in Ohio I think), while the girl was being charged by the police with filing a false report.

The school isn't doing anything wrong other than going along with an obviously flawed process that they are required to follow.

I feel that even in this scenario, however, because Jameis has a lawyer that managed to get him an experienced judge and will work to make sure facts get in that wouldn't normally, there will be no punishment and it won't affect Jameis anymore than it already has.

So it's not for Jameis' sake that I want the process changed or abolished, but all the others that don't get good lawyers able to affect the outcome.

I said this from the beginning that TPD should have investigated the matter being that this happened off campus and had jurisdiction. They are the ones who blew the investigation.

People who are blaming FSU and not TPD are doing it because they have a agenda.

Also did people quickly forget about the Duke Lacrosse team?

Lol, now we're stretching this out and using the duke lacrosse case as an example? Different time, different place....how dare a school look into a student that could be a complete liability.

The honor code was there before Jameis enrolled, if he or anyone else didn't like it they should probably find a school without one.
What happened to the Duke Lacrosse team was a travesty, but that was that case. That doesn't mean that every case forever afterwards is just like the Duke case.
Not to mention the Duke situation is the exception, not the rule. Big outlier.

Exactly.
I see some people don't understand how Jurisdiction works.

It's more convenient and easier to blame a university, when they are basically 2nd fiddle in an investigation.

Why aren't these same posters who are quick to report on news at FSU not reporting on situations like a sexual assault investigation at Michigan?

Possible Agenda?

because

1. the incident at michigan is isolated, as opposed to the repeat of bad behaviors at fsu.

2. the fsu investigation was screwed up from the start

3. fsu is local for most of us.

4. jameis winston is a much higher profile offender than the person at michigan

need i go on?

Sexual assault is sexual assault no matter who is involved celebrity or not, or where it took place.

Selective outrage at it's finest.

No need to create one when I have ESPN news reporting all the current and up to date news FSU.

Something has to fill the void for the Gators being trash and human waste on the field.
