Jacksonville Jaguars Demetrius McCray leads all second-year cornerbacks in
Yards Per Coverage Snap at 0.89. He has allowed 167 yards on 14 catches from 188 coverage snaps.
If he qualified for the overall snap totals, which he will eventually if he stays healthy, and stays at his .89 YPCS he would be third in the league for all corners.
Just another log to throw on the growing Dave Caldwell impressive acquisition fire.
The difference between a good GM and a great GM is the ability to find quality talent in the late rounds. With McCray and now Bowanko impressing Caldwell definitely has us on the right track.
Fantastic to see, Caldwell has found some late gems
It's clear this defense needs a FS and a bonafide edgerusher
McCray has clearly played like our best CB since he entered the lineup this year.
He and Colvin will likely be the starters maybe even by seasons end. At the very least by 2015 opener.
They still should probably add another CB in the draft however. Keep the influx of talent coming because your backups are always only a play away from starting themselves.
Lets wait till' teams start getting some quality tape on the guy and we'll see if this continues. So far, Im very impressed with him. Its just all too often we see rookies and backups come in then play lights out for a few games then disappear when opposing teams focus on them and have tape to find weaknesses (Cecil shorts in his 2nd year, Bortles this year)
Regardless, The first step is even playing lights out. Once you get gameplanned, Thats when you figure out who can break out of it and still perform.

They at least already have a good pass rush. They have nothing at FS. Once they get the FS position solved with a player who causes the opposing QB to think twice about throwing at him, then this defense will make huge strides.

This plus a MLB. I think a dominating DE has been a priority for a decade. This team whiffed on tons. We cannot find our Von Miller for some reason.

They need to sign a veteran free safety and draft an edge rusher in the first round.

He's been playing the majority of the defensive snaps since week 4.

Maybe 2 safeties. With teams running more 2 TE plays on offense, defenses are having to adjust. Some defenses are now going "heavy nickel" when facing 2 TE sets which is 4 DL 2 LBs 2CBs 3 S. The third safety allows the defense to put a better athlete covering both TEs instead of a LB mismatch. With the way our defense get abused by opposing TEs I don't see how it could hurt.

Said about 29 NFL teams. Brilliant!

Can't forget about Denard and Telvin in the fifth.

Every party has a pooper.

I haven't. Getting legitimate starters from the 5th round on down isn't likely but if you do hit on a couple it can definitely fast track your rebuild. The best example of this is the team we look to emulate, the Seahawks.
He's a good, long, rangy, corner.
Not today. Today you saw his true colors.
Some folks fall for anything.
He's certainly not what some of you think he is.
He's not the future at either corner. Both sides need significant upgrading.
