Quote:Gratz played pretty good today, the assignment was a tough one and he suffers from lackluster safety help.

The Oline played well again and the times I watched Luke and Zane they were solid both in the run and pass. How many sacks did we give up?

I think Ace is a lost cause, he just doesn't have the speed to do what they want him to. Harris did ok when he had to play, Evans is a liability.

If we get 4 long term starters and 2 contributors from that draft I think it's a great one.

Yeah I forgot about Gratz.  He's been alright.

Luke has been average, he allowed a sack late in the game IIRC, but that's alright.  We allowed 2 sacks today which isn't too bad.

"Starters" on a really bad team isn't good enough.  We need some of these guys to be better than just average starters.

I agree with you that Cyprien and Joeckel need to step up to make that 2013 draft class legit.  McCray and Denard are excellent late round gems, but we need more from the first and second rounds.

Here's hoping...

I think it's worth noting that Caldwell also added Abry Jones and and LaRoy Reynolds as UDFAs that year - as well as signing Marks, Ball, Miller and Harbor cheaply.   Not a bad haul for a rookie GM.  If Cyp and Joeckel come around - I'll consider it a very solid first step from Caldwell. Time will tell, and the clock has begun ticking for Cyprien.
I love Denard, he's quickly becoming one of my favorite Jags.

Quote:Not really true.

Most people were saying he should be cut unless he shows remarkable improvement. He has.

No its true. After a lackluster preseason many were calling for his outright release. It happened.

The rest of us, Jaguars management included, were more patient and it has paid off.

I'm really glad you were patient.

I'm really glad you are snarky and decided to ignore the point.

But that's okay, let's be impatient...FIRE EVERYONE! MARIOTA 2015!
Quote:As of right this minute MJD has 2 carries for -2 yards. Yikes!!

What's really sad is that despite Toby Gerhart being a disappointing pick up, he still has at least twice the amount of yards that MJD does. Gerhart also has at least seen the end zone once this year while MJD is still looking for it.

sorry, was just messing around.

I agree patience is key.  It's pretty much the only thing we as fans can do right now.  We have to be patient and hope that rookies make significant improvements in their play.
Quote:I wonder how much is improvement and how much is just opportunity? Last year they'd run him out there for one play where everyone knew he was getting the ball. Maybe if he'd gotten some some continuity through several plays in a row he would've done better. Or maybe he really needed the year to develop and it wouldn't have mattered.
I think it's a combination of opportunity and stability.  That Offensive Weapon nonsense last year was a rookie management blunder.  He didn't know if he was a receiver or a RB, the game just overwhelmed him and Bradley (who was probably a little overwhelmed himself) never reacted.  Now that he can focus exclusively on running back, he should continue to improve.  I think he's going to be very good.
Very much liking this guy.  He hits the hole and runs downhill!

D rob is the goat
Quote:Wow. Genius post.

lol

pound the ball next week gus, you want a physical team? you need to be physical then
Quote:Can't wait to see what happens when out Qb is playing good and teams have to game plan for DROB and JB
and 'JB'? You can't mean Justin Blackmon? There couldn't be anyone easier to 'game plan' for! All they have to do is have someone hold up a baggie of something that looks like the 'sticky ickky' and a beer and JB will be completely distracted! Forget about him and move on!
You're disgusting

JB will be back. And he'll be our best player. Bunch of fools... I swear I dinf know why I read a bunch of dumb post....

Do any of you actually have a college education that exceeds a 2.0 gpa?

If you don't think JB will change this team you're insane... He hasn't been cut for a reason once again....

DROB is legit. Kid put the weight on did the work and he's been balling.. I hope bb5 realizes how his team is stepping up big time and he needs to so the same

Sounds like a plan!

I think you guys are not paying attention.   Last year, Denard was 20 pounds lighter and he had nerve damage in his hand which kept him from catching or gripping the ball tightly.   So, the difference between last year and this year is not only mental- understanding the game, etc, but also PHYSICAL.   His hand healing up and him gaining 20 pounds.
I consider denard a rookie RB, at this point. He has excellent vision, and he's running with good power and holding onto the ball. And he's still learning the nuances. Whoever our RB coach is, is doing a great job with him.

If only the turf monster didn't tackle him yesterday...
Yes, he deserved to get to that 100 mark again yesterday. Would have been nice to see that because he certainly was on track for that. What I'd like to see is the use of both him and Toby like they were yesterday. That 1-2 punch was pretty effective. But, DRob has earned the right to be the feature back and this comes from a guy who happens to be a HUGE Toby Gerhart fan.

Yes... I very often am and I realize it; I also happen to be correct about Blackmon. Get over it....
