Quote:I think he makes the 1000, it's amazing how people didn't want him starting because he "didn't show anything" even though he had like 3 carries.
I'll man up and admit it.  I was one of the people that said prior to and the start of the season that he hadn't shown me anything.  That was the case for me at that point.

He has certainly been a pleasant surprise this season, especially over the last few games.
I know Denard has shown some serious adjustments and quite frankly a desire to hit the hole and defenders hard.  His style of running has excited a lot of people.  That is good stuff but my favorite part is that he is holding onto the ball.

0 fumbles.  That's starting running back material.  Once BB5 stops with the errand throws and Denard should get a lot more easy yards.

Quote:Very shifty, fast as hell, and has great vision. I am ready to deem Robinson worthy of being called an NFL quality tailback. Heck, He's got to be top 15 or better right now with the way he is playing. In the the past 3 weeks he's had over 300 yards. Do you guys think he can rush for another 100 in London?

He keeps this up and continues to grow and play at a high level...

We not only have a quality tailback.  We've got a franchise back.

A little too soon IMO to declare him a franchise player.  Let's see how he fits into the offense the entire group gets better.

It wouldn't surprise me if DRob ended up being a franchise back.

But even if he doesn't get to that level, I think he'll still be one of thone players that is one of the best on the team, and play a fairly important role in alot of games (making a difference at RB, as a Receiver, and returner).

At worst,, I can envision him being quite similar to the way Joshua Cribbs was in Cleveland for a long time.

Even that would be cool.
Denard running well doesn't just bode well for him, it bodes well for the other 2 rookies that are out there blocking for him.

It gives me confidence that Linder and Bowanko can be solid starters for years to come if they continue blocking so well.
Funny how no one mentions how the coaching staff might have aided his improvement.

I guess they're too busy poorly game planning.

2nd in rushing since being named starter

If i were just hearing the stats, i'd agree with you.  But my eyes saw a legit RB.  Great news going forward. The day will come when this offense pulls it all together, I can't wait to see it.
Full article on grantland.com devoted to D Rob's transition to RB. I'll read it later but grantland is usually top notch. Should be an interesting read. The world is starting to take notice.

And if Mariota struggles through half a season...Give up? Draft the next guy?

Nice read. Here's a fun quote.

Quote:It’s not hard to see Jamaal Charles or Chris Johnson — the dreadlocks sticking out the back of Robinson’s helmet help — when watching Robinson aim directly for his offensive tackles, ready to slipstream into the open field. Because as impressive as Robinson’s 4.43 speed is, it’s his willingness to wait for blocks that really has him succeeding. Like an ambulance with sirens blaring, Robinson can run red lights, but he’s found that stopping briefly at intersections helps prevent disaster, too. This season, he has zero fumbles on 102 touches.

<p style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:'Harriet Text', Georgia, Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;font-size:16px;">“He is understanding the stretch and cut. He’s understanding the stretch and bounce and understanding when you’re running outside zone what’s your reads,” Jacksonville offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch told the Florida Times-Union. “Even earlier in the season, maybe we missed a read, because we were too fast to the hole and the block didn’t develop quick enough. He’s understanding when he’s running inside he’s got to run with lower pad level.”

It is a good article.

And while you are at Grantland check out Bill Barnwell's article. Among other facts and figures he shows the Jaguars having one of the league's best red-zone defenses and one of the worst red-zone offenses. Interesting stuff.
Quote:Gosh, we really missed out by not bringing him back!

I wanted him gone at least one year earlier. It was obvious he was done.

In better news, it's good we're showing promise at RB. Prior to his first 100 yard game, I was praying for Gurley to be added to the roster. Now it's looking like we can use that pick elsewhere instead.

Example A of why we need to run the ball more and not throw as much.

Is this a Jags forum!?!

J/K, you would never hear this in the past.

Yea I thought about that after I posted it. But I find myself watching games and saying to myself "just keep running " cause it works really well. But we go away from it and BB5 forces a INT.

No, i agree with you.  Establish the run, then let Bortles hit em downfield.  I'm all for it, as long as the run game continues as it's been.

He is the prototypical Outside Zone RB. His biggest issue was his fumbles. That seems to be fixed with his surgery. I expect big things from him going forward.
