Quote:have you ever played sports? when youre out that long you lose your legs and it takes a little while to get them back.

yes...... was he sitting on a couch this entire time?  you don't lose a step in a matter of weeks.

you do. thats why training programs leading up to the season are weeks long. same thing if youre a guy who works out a lot.

take 2-3 weeks off from the gym and see how much youve lost by the time you go back. everything takes a significant dip and itll take prob about a month to get back to where you were at.

this isn't about how much you can bench to impress your buddies.  this is about running.  speed is what it is.  you have it or you don't.  you are going to find that he will never get back what he was in college.  watch.

it's not like he went from nothing at all to playing in the game.  he has had a couple weeks of practice now to get his legs back underneath him.  that is more than enough time to be able to sprint 100% in shorts distances which is all he is asked to do.

He just looks slower because everybody else is a bit faster than in college.

Whether he has lost a step or not, he certainly doesn't have Bortles confidence.

I hear you, but... he looks slower when nobody is around him, like I said

he was in the last game for like 3 snaps

Quote:we've seen this kind of thing from guys like Mike Thomas

that burst doesn't last forever and everybody loses it at some point.  it's a big reason why guys choose to get on steroids.

Haha okay

football legs and legs from running on a treadmill are two different things. you would know if you played ever.

he's running on a treadmill at practice?  you are not making sense.  you'd know that doesn't happen at football practice if you ever played

I would agree if he was being asked to play every snap... but he isn't.  stamina is not really an issue here.

what are you even saying?  you think ace sanders is going to get faster over the course of this season or next season?  it's not going to happen.

I haven't seen him much from him running this year because he hasn't had much opportunities.  He looks tentative to me while returning punts, that's all.
Damn shame

Achilles my man. Ur Sounding like you never buckled up a chinstrap and double knotted the cleats then made the training staff tape the ankles nahmean??

You will feel this way about a lot of posts on here.

We have a very wide range of posters on here.

It sure keeps it interesting at times.

I agree with him being hesitant.
Quote:you don't get faster after a few weeks of practice.  you have it or you don't.  he has lost a step.  it's obvious to me.
Go outside and run, then do the same for 10 weeks every day. I can almost guarantee the time you clock in 10 weeks will be faster than the time you clock today.

If Ace wasn't training during his time away from the team (didn't he go to rehab?) then his fitness will not be up to level. The coaching staff obviously see that he isn't at the level he needs to be judging by the amount of snaps he had on offense. He only had something like 4 this week and even less in previous weeks I think.

The Jags need more from Ace then they have been getting over these past few games he has played in.

Come on Ace, pick it up, the Jags need you.

it's been four games now.  long distance running is just totally different.  I think his limited snaps is due mostly to there being plenty of other options at receiver right now.

im saying that in the next 2 or 3 games we should see ace get back to where he was last year.
He doesn't seem to be in the game plan on offense and has looked too hesitant when returning punts. Even with him being out 4 weeks, certainly not what I expected from him

Quote:He has lost some of his quickness he had in college.

He hasn't lost any quickness, he's a kid for god’s sake. The problem is he's a middling undersized athlete at the NFL level, he doesn't have the athleticism required to be a dynamic punt returner, and doesn't possess the size or bulk to break tackles. He's just not very good.
