Big John, I really would like your personal opinion on Karlos Williams.  After seeing the photos his girlfriend posted and the report that he was involved in the drug deal gone bad.  

 

Should he play tonight?  I know he hasn't been formally charged, but that doesn't mean the University shouldn't do its own due diligence.

Could he have done something? Sure. Could it have been something like an argument gone wrong and this is her way at trying to get back at him? That's possible too. There are witnesses that say Williams didn't touch her. I've also read that Williams' lawyer has said he is nothing more than a witness in this drug deal thing. I haven't read too much into that report though as I've been busy with school work this week.


As for playing tonight, I think he should play. I don't believe in suspending someone unless they are facing charges. I didn't think Jameis should have been. I didn't think Treon Harris should have been, and I don't think Karlos should be either.

Listening to the announcers, I see no bias. This is one of the better announced games I've heard.

I don't know about Karlos Williams specifically, but the most effective way to raise awareness of domestic violence is tell stories of such incidents, so the timing is good as this is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Don't hold your breath. Title IX has investigated over 40 schools and has yet to come to a finding against any of them. The law is so vaguely stated they don't want to be challenged in court and the entire law to be thrown out. So they investigate, threaten, the school makes minor changes to avoid court costs, and both parties move on.

 

By the way, they're investigating whether FSU followed Title IX procedures and initiated their own investigation in a time appropriate manner as required, not if FSU has a back alley channel to the TPD to get athletes off.

 

I'd go through and analyze just what it is the media has said vs. what they've implied and the difference between a slanted article and an untrue one, but really if your only argument is going to be "I don't need to examine facts, a lot of people I've heard of said it so it must be true" it's just not worth it.

Karlos Williams should be punished if he abused that woman. Until he is charged, patience isn't going to hurt anything except FSU's reputation, and I think that's less important than getting the facts straight before acting.

If everyone hates FSU now because of how good the team is, why aren't people throwing hate on Auburn, its opponent in the NCG?

 

I think this fact means it is a total coincidence that the hate is being poured on a great team instead of a bad one.
