Depending on how good or bad J.T. Thomas plays this season, we should be lookiing at both outside and middle linebackers in the draft. Who do you like for depth or as an eventual starter and expect to go in the first half of a round?

ILB: Benardrick McKinney, Denzel Perryman, Eric Kendricks, A.J. Johnson

OLB: Shaw Thompson or Michael Orakpo

Yes I want Orakpo as he is supposed to be a stronger athlete than his brother. He can also be had late due to injury and his previous issues off the field. Reports state he has fixed his matureness. His injury was a torn ACL and MCL in September.

But here are the links for other LBs.

Ironically the older Orakpo is on IR with a torn pectoral suffered in Week 7. Look familiar?

Is Michael still recovering?

McKinney and Thompson are probably the top two linebackers in the draft. I would not be surprised if both went in the top 15. McKinney is a freak. 6'4 245 and rumored to run a 4.4 40. Would be a great one to replace Poz.

McKinney is a bit stiff and there is no way he'll run in the 4.4s. I think he'll time around 4.6 or 4.7. I like Perryman over him.
It was a 4.5 according to Bruce Feldman on his freak list.

McKinney is a stud.

He is tall for middle linebacker. But built pretty similar to KJ Wright, who played for Gus in Seattle and also went to Mississippi State.

i bet he could run a high 4.4 at his pro day. hes got speed for a man of his size.
Only 3 inside linebackers have ever run a 4.4 at the combine to my knowledge and they were all obscure players. A blazing fast inside linebacker barely cracks 4.5s usually. McKinney is nowhere near as fast as Telvin Smith. I'll stand by a 4.6 or 4.7 until he proves me wrong.

And Telvin Smith plays on the outside. Are middle linebackers usually slower than outside linebackers?

plausible

yes.  OLB often have to cover TEs and RBs out on the flat so they need to be faster.  But they usually weight a little less.

Saw someone mention Shaq Thompson.  Thought I read somewhere that he has 4 defensive TDs this year.  Which is something of an anomaly but even still he is a playmaker.

Thompson has scored as a running back too this year. He's great.

So he plays both offense and defense?
Washington has a pretty solid LB group it'll be hard to replace those 3 guys for them.

It's a shame their offense is total garbage. They will have a handful of guys drafted in the first few rounds next spring.

I was using Telvin as reference. Telvin is a 4.5 guy. And yes, inside linebackers are bigger and slower than outside linebackers.

Apparently.

I can't even...
Benardrick McKinney 4.67.  Just sayin'.  Running a 4.4 or 4.5 is extremely rare for an inside linebacker.

I am actually hoping for Dupree as an Otto Line backer. Of course other people will be ranked ahead of him for a more Leo position, but Dupree does check the boxes for Otto.
