In The nfl it is huge.

Look at yeldons tape from last year.

If the first defender gets near him.

He typically goes down.

Actually lol. He even sometimes runs into the back of an o lineman or right into the arms of a tackler...

It's weird....

Because yeldon does have some moves he can use to escape a would be tackler. But he doesn't always use them...

Effort?

Confidence?

Coaching?

I really don't know.

Can he be coached up to be more viscous and to trust his instincts more?

But I do know dalvin cook did this consistently in college. Cook was repeatedly challenged at the los

And he consistently made something happen.

Looks to me like if dalvin cook comes to the NFL and continues to do what he did in college he will be much better than yeldon or ivory was last year.

Remember....Grant started one game.

And in that one game.

He had a better performance than either yeldon or ivory had in any one game over the entire year.

If I were in charge.

I'd definitely give Corey Grant more opportunities than either yeldon or ivory and see what he's got..It just makes sense.

[BLEEP] how much we paid ivory or how high yeldon was drafted.

We need to put the best players on the damn field.

Corey Grant deserves a solid shot at repeating what he did.

Period.

Any variation from that and I will suspect bs.

I suspected it last year when Corey tore it up in camp and pre season had a few fumbles and dissappeared the rest of the season until he got his chance when ivory and yeldon were Injured.

In one opportunity grant absolutely did do enough to at the very least be given more opportunities to show what's next, durability, consistent pass blocking, short yardage ability...

I just don't have patience for a RB who on multiple occasions runs straight into the back of the o lineman in front of him and stumbles to the ground.

What the Jaguars need is to install a proper running game with their scheme, and Coughlin knows precisely how to do that if Marrone doesn't. In a legit scheme, and provided they can keep him healthy, Ivory can be a fine bell-cow RB. They need to feature him as the guy unless they're able to acquire a top RB through free agency as I don't see any later round draft picks coming in and beating out Ivory. Again, I'm fine featuring Ivory, but imagine a backfield where they have an elite back (possibly Cook if you truly think he's that great) with Ivory, TJ and the speedy Grant all waiting in the wings. That would be a true stable of RBs.

Yeldon is trash.

What type of chance of pace does he provide though? 

Yeldon can be very elusive with the ability to find yards by eluding defenders in tight spaces. Ivory has some wiggle as well, but he's more of a power back who will run over a defender if need be. Yeldon can come in off the bench at any point in time to give Ivory a breather with very little if any drop off. Then if they're truly looking to mix things up with a real change-of-pace, that's what Grant is for.

Get an O-line with some semblance of run block to get any of these 3 to the second level they could stretch yards. With our current line the problem was getting to the second level. Perhaps lack of talent, or perhaps Marone's coaching. We will see.

I keep thinking that if they just stick with Ivory as their bell cow (or else acquire an elite RB in free agency or Cook in the draft) and truly feed him the ball behind improved offensive line play, they'll have a good running game. Oley was clueless when it came to the run and basically ruined them for Hackett. Run game coordination needs to be established in training camp, but Oley seemed to focus virtually all their efforts on a passing game that fell apart when Blake's arm was fatigued likely from being over-worked in an offense that led the league in pass attempts for much of the season.

And here all this time we said they can't run block when in fact they can block...their own back.

Perhaps because there was no hole? The o-line gets pushed around all year in the trench. Pass block was OK, not great. But run block was almost non-existent.
