Quote:I think he led his team down with less than a minute to win the game. It wasn't his best game, but he did it when it mattered.
Just to add my bit to this statement; I wouldn't say he led his team down the field. It was more of throwing a short out route to Greene and two auburn players tackled each other. Then he threw a high pass (which was the right thing to do) to 6'5 Benjamin. Winston benefits a lot from YAC on very short easy routes, which really make his stat line look nice
Quote:People fail to grasp that even though ND was #5, they were #5 because they are ND. They haven't been as good as their ranking this year. North Carolina had a shot to beat them. In South Bend. North Carolina...
They were #5 because they were one of the last undefeated Big 5 schools. They were the lowest ranked one.

What?
On the road at Pitt in his first start on Labor Day in front of a national audience: 25-27/356 yards/4 TDs

On the road against Clemson: 22-34/444 yards/3 TDs
Against a top 10 Miami team: 21-29/325 yards/1 TD
ACC Championship game: 19-32/330 yards/3 TDs
BCS Championship game: 20-35/237/2 TDs (including leading the game-winning drive)

let me ask you this. 1. how do you honestly think jameis would perform against ole miss or miss st if they played this weekend.
2. do you honestly think when and if they play, that fsu wins that game?

I'll just give you the answer you want to see. No, because SEC.

yeah, i try to engage in intelligent football conversation with others so they can just tell me what i want to hear.....
thanks for being an adult.

Some of the teams you included here are absolutely horrific and not what I would call top tier talent, but to each their own....whatever makes you feel better.
Lets look at the national title game and the Notre Dame game. Each game he struggled mightily in the first half. Jimbo changed teh game plan and he executed it....but I think it had more to do with coaching than the player. I will give him credit though, he is very easily coached. He is told what to do and he can typically do it very well.
You are so sensitive...its hilarious.
I guess I should put #blamejameis at the end of every post. We should also not go to college gameday because big bad ESPN isnt being fair to the idiot who cant keep himself out of trouble. Many of your fans have turned into a laughing stock because of how sensitivity. Your team and quarterback are good, dont make yourselves the victim.

However it shook out, they aren't a great team. Nothing special whatsoever. Even some Noles pointed that out last week on here.

So i provide examples and I'm being sensitive? Makes sense.

Lighten up Francis. Don't take everything so seriously.
In regards to your question, I think Jameis would do well against both. Mississippi State is 89th in the country in defense. Ole Miss' defensive line would worry me, but other than that, I'm really not all impressed with Ole Miss. Yes I think FSU could beat both.

Pitt, Maryland, and Miami. LOL

Could or would? I'm just curious of how confident you actually are.

You said big time moments. His first start, first game against a ranked team, a game a lot of people were calling a trap game, and a rivalry against a then top 10 Miami team aren't big moments?
Quote:Could or would? I'm just curious of how confident you actually are.
I think FSU would definitely beat Mississippi State. I would lean 60-40 right now in favor of FSU beating Ole Miss.
Another thing (in addition to the sign stealing by Auburn) that accounts for some of the slow FSU starts, is that teams always have new tricks up their sleeves when they play FSU. They practice things and don't use them in the games leading up to FSU so that they can surprise FSU with them. It's the price of being the biggest game of the year for most schools.
Besides, if the biggest critique of Winston's play you can find is that he starts slow in some big games before coming on strong after halftime . . . that's pretty laughable.
I wouldn't take Jamies as an UDFA. Can't stand the guy, hope he never succeeds, and will never ever root for his entitled, arrogant, criminal [BLEEP].
Anyone that thinks Jameis doesn't rise to the occasion is crazy. If FSU doesn't win the championship this year, it will most likely be because of their defense.

With all due respect, his biggest game of his career, he didn't rise to the occasion. He simply wasn't very good.
Not a chance. Even if we had the first pick and didn't have Bortles, I probably wouldn't take Winston.

Every single one of those teams were not good. Every one. I don't care if they were ranked at some point, when the chips fell at the end of the year...they were bad.
You are so worried about someone not bowing down to Jameis that you take everything so seriously. I'm not saying he isnt a good quarterback, I am saying from an NFL perspective, the way he played against tough teams wasnt up to par.
