Quote:Thankfully we have Blake. We will most likely have a top 5 pick this year. This class is loaded at QB (Petty, Winston, Mariota, Hundley...) Hopefully we can get a team to trade up so we can fill more holes on this team.

Its sad to think about this only 6 games into the season. I honestly didn't think we would be 0-6

I'm in huge favor in trading down and collecting picks, but the question is, if the Jags end up with the 1st or 2nd pick in the draft, is a team out there willing to jump up and take one of those QB's? Because honestly, I don't see any QB worth the #1 or #2 pick since it's that deep of a QB class. I could be wrong..

We all know the Jags are gonna end up picking in the top 5.. I think the ideal spot would be 5th, I think that's where QB's start going..

I think there absolutely will be a team willing to trade up for Mariota. Not sure about any other QB in this draft though. Maybe if Winston also declares.

The cool thing is the Jags would likely be in a position to control where Mariota goes (i,e, OUT of the AFC and not to the Texans).

Mariota will be the #1 pick most likely this year. He would have been the top rated QB coming out this past year if he did.

Jets, Bills, Titans, Texans... They will all be looking for a QB.

Prior to the 2nd half of the Eagles game, after coming off our pre-season, I would have agreed with you regarding our record...

But... reality sets in. Our coaching staff is sub-par, they are too slow in making adjustments in game. They are inept in how to best utilize our strenghts and protect against our weaknesses... It's a tough spot for us to be in as a fan-base.

But all hope does not appear lost. There are things on the player personnel side that are positive. It's not just QB that is dooing well.

Think about our D-Line, we used to NEVER be able to get pressure on the QB on 3rd down situations. Our D-Line is something to be feared now. Yes, we all would love the D-Line to be even more monster, and there are lapses there. But I think that is more to do with depth then a total lack of talent.

It's just a matter of time, and "competition" seeping into the ranks of the coaching staff. Especially after this loss, the coaches should be worried about how they are being evaluated. This team is not the worst in the NFL, but our record indicates that we are. That's on the coaches as an over-all unit.

Well here's the problem with that, If the Jags don't land the #1 pick, I'm pretty sure Oakland will, and Oakland already has Carr so they'll get the king's ransom if Mariota is deemed #1.. And knowing the way this team is, they'll string together a few wins after the bye..

Kinda like how Teddy was the sure #1 pick this time last year?

Oakland won't finish with the #1 pick. They gave a good Chargers team all they could handle yesterday.

The Jags can only be close in games vs the garbage teams in the league.

Congrats for posting something that has zero to do with what you quoted.

If I had to lay money down, it's against the bills and the rams.. But idk..

Dont worry, if Bortles struggle he will be beating that drum.

I can't read anymore about "we're beating so and so".. Hasn't turned out favorable yet.. I have hope, but not faith..

And I don't know if this was a dig at me or not.. Either way, I haven't had enough coffee yet..
Quote:And all I'm saying is don't stop drafting QB's because one looks okay so far. The Jags have done that before.

So what round would you draft a qb and who? If you say the first round then I'll have to disagree because we have so many other needs to fill.
Blake has shown me plenty to warrant building around. We don't have a franchise WR, TE, RB and a really inconsistent O-line. And maybe coaching? That and a defense near last in the league in every major category (except sacks) we could be a GREAT team with a good team around Bortles. I don't think we remember how bad it was before Blake was in the lineup. Where we should have just punted on 2nd or 3rd down.
