Quote:Sure, if you're only looking at the final score. There's more to it than that when you're trying to measure the team's progress.
Crap is crap no matter what it looks and smells like, it's STILL CRAP...
Why do people insist on blaming things from years ago on the current regime?
Quote:Why do people insist on blaming things from years ago on the current regime?
Because it's the easiest thing to do for those who have no valid arguments
Accountability lol...

How about the head coach, O & D Coordinators and General Manager?

New staff and we are seeing the same results.  Same excuses are being used that Mularkey used..."if we just eliminate the big plays," "we are seeing some good things," "9 of 11 guys are doing the right things."  Blah, blah, blah...4 games in and Bortles is the bright spot that is convincing people that there's hope?  We won't be good until there's proof that Dave Caldwell and Gus Bradley can draft/find the right players and develop/improve them.  While there are a couple players that provide a little hope, this is not a roster that is improving overall.  The collective 53 on the team are no better than what we've seen the last several years.

Quote:I hear ya and expect that...All I really expect to see is something that resembles a NFL caliber football team... Sometimes the Jags look just like a bunch of guys off the street that have never stepped foot on a field before trying to play with Pros

I hate to break it to you but that's pretty much what this team is. A bunch of rookies and street FA's cobbled together. That's all we have. There aren't any players available on that Pro Bowl tree behind Caldwell's house.

You aren't making any new and profound statement here...I didn't say a bunch of rookies, I said a bunch of guys who have never been on a field before....Which is exactly how this team looks at times...Just like they saw a bunch of guys down at the park and said "Hey Come on down to the stadium, I got a job for you"

I'm aware of the make up of the team, but they still are not playing well...No matter how it's presented, this team is playing like [BLEEP]

Yes. But what's the (or should I say your) solution for that? It's not like we can just go sign 53 pro bowlers tomorrow.

I think they are on the right track...I can't remember the author of this quote but it seems the Jag's are beginning to follow it. "Get 'em good, or get 'em gone" (unknown)

Quote:OK, so now, since we're playing a 2 time super bowl winning QB, it will be pretty good if we lose to the Steelers by 14.  I'm just coming up with the rationalizing that we will have to use next week.
I don't expect us to win this week either but people complaining about the Chargers game surely didn't expect us to win I hope. (and don't call me Shirley)

The defense played awful but how can you watch Bortles play and not get a little excited about the future? I think thats what most people are saying. No one is saying that game was a win but there were a couple positives. Not a lot.... but a couple.
Dont forget to cut Gerhart,Henne,Alualu,Poszlusny..
Cheese. Don't forget Cheese.

Cut Corn. And Blank #2. Definitely cut Blank #2.

Someone's drunk.

Rug
Serious question: Does this sudden cutting of players contradict Bradley's mantra of improvement, development, and competition?  It seems like these are two guys who won their jobs and then were cut due to bad days (well, in Guy's case, more than one...).

It seems like it could be possibly sending a mixed message to the players.

Not that it super matters.  These are grown men, not peewee players.  Was just a thought I had.

Don't see how it's sending mixed messages.

Nowhere does it say "once you earn your job in training camp, it's yours forever"

Not really. If you're not getting better then you're wasting a roster spot. The players that were cut are all veterans and was with this team last year. They knew what was expected of them and they underperformed. One of those players (Guy) was actually given a shot at redemption last week and totally blew it. There's not much more you can do other than move on and let someone else come in to compete. The competition isn't over after preseason. Its a year long battle. "Do your job" or you could be next is the perfect message.

You're one of those guys who think it's either crap or gold with nothing in between.  In other words, you're one of those guys who're wrong.

Nope...If the team plays like crap  it's CRAP...If they play with improvement and it's crap...it's STILL CRAP...It might be improved, but they are still playing like CRAP...Can you not see this team is playing like CRAP? Even with improved playing with Bortles in as QB, they are still playing like CRAP...

you are one of those guys who think that playing a few plays better than they did the week before means that they are playing well...In other words, you settle for CRAP play....You can settle for CRAP, and even be fine with a team that plays like crap, I for one expect more than CRAP

Quote:Nope...apparently you are one of those who believe that any indication of improvement means the team is playing well...If the team plays like crap  it's CRAP...If they play with improvement and it's crap...it's STILL CRAP...It might be improved, but they are still playing like CRAP...Can you not see this team is playing like CRAP? I think some elements of the team are playing well.  There are some spots that are playing like crap which is why the scores are what they are.  If you can't see that, I don't know what to tell you.   You'll probably think the team is crap until they win the Superbowl and even then will probably still think elements of the team are playing like crap.  You must be a lot of fun to watch the games with.
