Even as good as Watt has been, the lowly Henne-led Jags beat his Texans team twice last season.

In one of those wins Henne was a very Gabbertesque 12 of 27 for 117 yds, although he did have a Bortles like 2 TDs in that game.

What is the other team that the Jags last had a 2 game win streak over?

It's been so long I can't even remember.

Please let it be the Steelers.
Quote:Clowney was so unnecessary

If Clowney doesn't stay healthy or they continue to struggle at QB while we gain some success with Bortles undercenter. Yep. Wasn't a good move there.

It could be the first time in a very long time that some team thinks it should have drafted a player the Jags took AFTER they drafted, esp in the first round.

Seriously, who is the last Jags player we can say that about?

I can't remember one off the top of my head, maybe back in the TC era?

There sure haven't been any recently, that's for sure.

Plenty of them the other way around though.

Way too many to list.
Quote:When I think of JJ Watt, all that comes into my head is trading up for Gabbert.
We could have had Watt and Dalton in the same draft, which was what I called for. Well...I said Watt or Kerrigan and Dalton.
I expect Watt to be one of the first players tested for HGH. He's almost inhuman.

We would have had to trade up for Watt, so we probably would not have also gotten Dalton. Could have had Kerrigan. Also, I think Dalton was picked before our 2nd round pick would have been.

Yeah, Kerrigan if we stayed put.  That's what I was hoping for.  After the trade up, I was hoping Watt.

*Sigh.*

Who the heck wants Dalton?

So you've been happy watching Henne, McCown, and Gabbert as opposed to Dalton? Intetesting.

So to be more specific and answer your question....Me.

Would I have taken Dalton over Henne, McCown and Gabbert? Absolutely. I do not look back at missing Dalton in the draft as a turning point in this franchise' doom. He is just "a guy" with a boatload of talent around him.
Quote:I remember there was a debate on this MB if he would be a good fit in our D if he fell to us, of course this was Del Rio's defense. I liked him more than Kerrigan, but had no idea he'd be anywhere near the player he is today.
I fall into this category too.

I didn't see him as a scheme fit and didn't see him as a dominant pass rusher.

yeesh!

...in your opinion.
Quote:When he wins an MVP leading his team to SB win. He is closer to Bruce Smith level, not even close to the dominance of LT.
Quote:The conversation is LT and ends with him.
You Sir are obviously off your rocker and living in a clouded nostalgistic world in which you can't fathom that anyone else can ever come along and match or surpass past greatness. Watt at his current play belongs in every conversation as those players.. Yes even LT,

Can you even name another player in NFL history who has the type of versatility that he's shown so far? His pass defensed stats alone are among the tops (regardless of position) in the league since he came in.

LT rewrote the OLBer position, J.J. Watt is doing the same exact thing at his position. He blocks kicks, he catches touchdowns, he defenses passes, he intercepts passes for 80 yard returns, he is the league leader in sacks and tackles for losses since his time in the league.

It's just a damn shame we don't have more talent around him and I hope what he's currently doing doesn’t get lost, because of that. He's single handedly winning games for us.
JJ Watt is a defensive end scoring touchdowns almost every other week.

I won't say he's the greatest, no one's allowed to speak that early, but I will say he is the best defensive end I've ever seen.

Before Bortles?

MJD?  Maybe Rashean Mathis or Daryl Smith.

If you are restricting it to the first round...?

Yeesh!

Maybe John Henderson.

Watt is a helluva player...period.

I don't knock Watt when I say this, but I am not sure he is at LT's level.

I know the one back offense was created by Joe Gibbs specifically in response to LT.  They wanted a bigger body (a TE) to counter him.

As it stands now, I do not know of any offensive innovations spurred out of necessity to block Watt.

But Watt is a dominant player with the ability to impact any game at any time.

Though I hate the plays he makes against the Jaguars, he's one of those players I can say I had the honor to watch.

I would say the best defensive end I've ever seen was Reggie White, followed by Bruce Smith.

If Watt keeps this up, he will definitely land in the top 3.

Absolutely an amazing player.

This. Watt is special player no doubt but LT was more than special he was unstoppable in 86.

Last night was proof that Watt cannot and will not win an NFL MVP. His stellar game still resulted in a loss. There is good reason QB's win more often than not.

Same reason a pitcher should never be named MVP in MLB.

Those were some fun Eagles teams to watch on defense with Reggie White, Jerome Brown, Mike Pitts, Clyde Simmons, etc. Reggie had one of the best seasons I've ever seen in, I think, 1987 with 21 sacks in only a dozen games.

They were definitely a fun team to watch if you enjoyed dominating defense.

They were not fun to watch if your team was on the other side of that defense, as my then Cowboys were.
