I thought his comments on Henne were dumb, but I understand why he made them. This is football, toward the media and the fans everyone is always unified, even if on the inside they're not really feeling it.

You are both right, but Bullseye has my attention more..
Quote:I just find it odd and unsettling that a coordinator would neuter his offense down to street ball plays just because of one incompetent player. It also seems to be the way of the NFL as a whole not just Fisch.

It's not just "because of one incompetent player", it's the most important player on the team who makes everything around him better or worse. Which is why I never understood why Blake wasn't playing from day one. But whatever. He's in now, and that's what matters.

When Gus is saying Henne is our guy NO MATTER WHAT, but Henne is not very good, what can the guy (Jedd) do? There's only so many plays the guy can give him and with Henne's Dr. Jekyll Mr. Hyde act.... well that just adds to the complication.

Now that Bortles is in the game Jedd can actually do stuff that was impossible with Henne and I think that's going to make a big difference. It won't win us the season, may not win a lot of games, but it's a start until Bortles has some time on the field.
I have the highest expectations for Bortles, I think he's going to be THAT good.

I'm tempering my expectations.

-The o-line still needs work

-Our WR's are young, and make mistakes

-Bortles is still young, and makes mistakes

-Our Run Game is awful

Looking forward to seeing him for a full game though.

Quote:About Fisch, horrible QB or not, a lot of his playcalling this year and last has been questionable at best.  Either he's trolling or he sucks, but his ineptitude will likely be hidden by good QB play.

:teehee: Classic!

Check out Priscos twitter if you can. He's got some good photos of Gerhart just choosing the wrong hole. Not saying our line has been great because we know it's been terrible but when there have been holes, he's missing them.
Frailbones, please dont try to preach truth. these guys dont know anything

Quote:nearly 10 YPA, TD/INt 1:1, Chunks of yardage, etc. Calm, Collected, and in command. The one thing that stood out was Bortles' ability to sell the run/play action. It was manning level good and fooled the defense three times. Two of them for chunks of run yardage. We saw Bortles throw INTs and then go right back the next series with more shots downfield.

What I really liked however was Jedd Fisch willing to do more tricks with Bortles in there as well as keep taking shots downfield. Was it really henne holding Fisch back? This could get it real interesting.

Bortles might not win alot this year but I am very certain hes gonna make games interesting to watch again. Thats all I ever wanted. A reason to watch.

BB5's athleticism is above and beyond anything that "You Know Who" has to offer on Any Level.

I've said from day one that it'll be a miracle to keep BB5 on the bench because throughout his young career, he's taken a back seat to no one...

So true. Is it bad that I can already see the "A Football Life: Blake Bortles" episode happening? The guy has a great story so far, and once he establishes himself as one of the best QBs in the league, it will only add to it.

Well Said...

I feel that Fisch was handicapped w/Henne but is free to fly w/BB5. Fisch was seriously limited due to athleticism but he can now "Spread His Wings"...

NH3...
Henne = Technician

Bortles = Playmaker

I found it very interesting they started running a lot of pistol formation when Bortles came in. Not sure why they never ran it with Henne. I mean sure, he's not very athletic, but if the zone read is part of your playbook why not use it a little? Chad is far from Leftwich

Better QB play... Better Play Calling...

A good QB is the best cure for a terrible coordinator. Get a good QB in there and all the sudden we have one of the best coordinators in the league. Funny how that works..

Henne<Technicion...

BB5>Playmaker...

Any Offensive Coordinator is Only as good as his Starting QB...

Really starting to believe that.

Good point.

He's been missing massive holes to the outside all season. I know the running back coach is getting on him about it because it's too obvious. It's like he's looking for a pile to run into. All that means is he has no vision and that's bad for a free agent you targeted this offseason.
