Beadles started on a line where Manning was only sacked 18 times

Manning just makes players better than they really are.

Why can't Bortles do the same? He just might!

so a good QB makes the OL better????

That's what I'd like to see.  Start him week 3.

Yes he does and im 100% CONVINCED bortles quick release/pocket presence will make our O-line better.
Quote:So what in your opinion is the main problem with our rushing game? Is it Jedd Fisch's new zone blocking scheme? Is it simply depleting O-line talent? Or our RB talent? Or even our passing game failures which is causing opposing defenses to load the box every down.

For me, I think we have to use the process of elimination here. Toby Gerhart was extremely successful in Minnesota so that kinda takes out RB talent. During the first half of the season opener, Chad Henne turned into Dr. Jekyll and made some great long throws. Our running game didn't exactly do much even during that small period of passing success. Check that one off. So we're down to players or plays. Oline talent vs. Oline scheme.

The Zone blocking scheme traditionally favors pass blocking more than run blocking. Its designed to make the QB either roll out or step up within 2-3 seconds of the snap since the O-line is blocking an area not necessarily a player. In my opinion, It fully guarantee's a QB to have atleast 2-3 everytime unless an Olinemen gets manhandled because a defensive linemen is always having to encounter an Olinemen no matter where he goes. The running aspect gets hurt because the Olinemen typically still stay to their zone unless the whole line shifts but it gives fewer "holes" to run through and allows opposing linebackers to fill the few holes you actually have.

As far as Oline talent, Outside we have Joeckel, Paztor, and bradfield. Paztor is injured. Bradfield is just as Dr. Jekyll/Mr hyde as Henne. Joeckel however seems to be doing his job the most consistently. Inside, We got Beadles, Linder, and Mclendon. Linder and Mclendon are struggling bad. Linder is still a rookie and Mclendon is just absolutely terrible. Beadles is about as average as we get.

In conclusion, I'd say Zone blocking is 50% of the issue, Oline talent is 40%, and 10% is our lack of accurate downfield passing.
I think it is a talent issue on the OL predominantly.

Not a single OL from opening day last year is playing in the same spot this year.

Let that sink in for a second.

NOT A SINGLE OL.

Joeckel was a rookie starter on the right side.

Bradfield was on the bench.

Beadles was in Denver.

McClendon was on the bench.

Linder was in college.

Add that to the fact that all of these players seem to have their limitations, you have a recipe for offensive ineptitude.

Manning is like a coach out there. He's a genius.
The Washington defense managed to sack the QB (10) times yesterday. No offense ( I truly say this with all respect) but if you even have to ask this question, it tells me you know very little about football. Or, you are simply trolling to get fan reactions.

Henne was responsible for most of those. If I have to even point that out, (with respect of course) You simply didnt watch the game.
The o-line is young.

Jags go 3-13.

I won't say the "D" word until we're 0-8.

All of the above.

Quote:Never, EVER blame the fans. We pay to watch this crap. They get paid. boo frigidy hoo. We've won 11 games in the last 3+ years. No fan base wouldn't be like us in the same situation. Seattle's 12th man is only like that because they are good.

I agree that any fan base would be the same, that's just human nature sadly.

And I don't think you can blame the fans for the last two defeats. They were road games, so the Jaguars fans won't have had much of an impact on the players performance.

But, I think fans do have a part to play too. You've already brought up the Seahawks example and most people accept they lift the team.

And I think we need all the support we can get right now.
We just need to be more fan supportive and the running game will get better.

We don't love these boys enough, they feel it, and don't perform.

Honestly, he is so transcendent, that I think he's BETTER than a coach.  Some coaches are frankly, dumb.  He's a football genius.  Period.

You must be referring to our rah rah coach.  lol
I think the ZBS needs to go, it didn't work out last year either and it doesn't seem to play to either the talent or the RB.

I also think it takes longer to acclimate to than a man scheme where you just look at the guy in front of you and hit him.

Finally, we have young talent that needs some time to gel and a big hole to fill in the middle, though Bowanko may fix that here in the near future. Get the decent 5 together and lets see what happens.
