Are we going to fire him this off-season then pick him up mid-season and he become our most reliable receiver (again)?

Great hands, but I'd like to see him do more after the catch. At least he knows to run his routes deep enough to get the first down, but you can pretty much expect him to be tackled immediately after the catch, and the same goes for his punt returns.

Fire him? He's a free agent.

Quote:Lee

Robinson

Walters

Blackmon

Hurns

Oh my. How 'bout we make that...

ARob

Lee

Hurns

Walters

Benn

Solid slot receiver with good hands.  A good piece to have around.

Ideally he's a back-up as Hurns is more dynamic playing that role, but he did great filling in.

He's a UFA currently, so it will be interesting to see what happens there.
Id like to see. Hate Robinson all you want but if the ball is over thrown or under thrown 9 out of 10 times to him what do you expect. He probably save 10 INTs this season breaking up bad throws.

WR1 - Robinson

WR2 - Lee

WR3 - Hurns

WR4 - Walters

WR5 - Green

By fire I guess I mean let go. He should be signed to a deal (and it should have been done after 2015 season ended). He has been a consistently effective target for Bortles for two years now.

It sounds like he wants to test free agency. Smart move by him and his agent.

Quote:"Everyone in the NFL is looking for that bigger role and I think I'd be stupid to not look for that [in free agency]," wide receiver Bryan Walters said. "I'll talk here, I'll talk to other teams and see what happens. Obviously, this place has become home the last two years and I like it, but it's going to be a lot different. It'd be fun to stick around but at the same time, I have to do what's best for the career."

Definitely a smart move. If he signs back with us, he will be the 4th receiver behind Robinson, Lee, and Hurns. He can certainly find a team where he would be higher on the depth chart and also earn more dosh. Still, hope we can get him back.
He will go to NE and put up way better numbers.

He was with the team all season in 2015 - so I don't know who you are confusing him with on your "fired and picked up" thing.

He played in the first 13 games of 2015 then had a concussion.

He was released for a whopping two days  in 2016 due to injuries elsewhere and the roster numbers game.

It happens to guys down the depth chart on every team throughout the season.

In 2016 he didn't get time early because Lee was healthy and Hurns played the slot. Did you want to start him instead of Hurns?

I guess I thought he was released rather than buried in the depth chart. I do see he was released for two days, twice, in 2015 and this season. I think he would be a 4th receiver below Hurns or Lee. If he wants to play higher in the depth, which i think he can, he probably won't be back in 2017.

And that's all good.

I like Walters and no matter where he goes that's not the stinking tacks, I'll be pulling for him to hold it down as long as his new squad isn't playing us.

Having said that, I hope we are able to work something out to bring him back. I just hope if we do, we can find a more dynamic PR.

Haha I want him back too but he does not have much business being a PR. But at least he did not drop the ball like everyone else who tried Smile
Reminds me of jones.  Can catch and nothing else.  But that is not a bad thing.

Seriously.

On a related note, I wonder if the team looking at Greg Ellison an insurance policy in case Walters leaves in free agency?

In the highlights I've seen of him he has great hands, isn't particularly fast but unlike Walters, he seems to adept at breaking tackles/making people miss...

Now granted, it was the CFL but his elusiveness still caught my attention. Kid was constantly breaking tackles (and occasionally ankles).

I don't think it's possible to find a less dynamic PR.

Quote:how many games you helped us win as a franchise?

Dude had 231 receiving yards this year so I'd like to think that he contributed significantly to all of our wins this year.

0 yards vs Colts -- provided good leadership and other intangibles

0 yards vs Bears - provided good leadership and other intangibles

45 yards vs Titans  -- career day !!

great resume. lol.
Laugh if you want guys, but what that stats don't say is he was pretty good at finding the first down marker and catching the ball pretty consistently. and whats more disheartening to an opponent than a team moving down the field in first down chunks and eating the clock.big yard catches are cool and all but there's a place for a weapon like walters.

In one of the games, I forget which, an announcer called him the jags Wes Welker.

Use him more and I bet thats a role he'd grown into.

edit - just checked his stats - yep 231 yards for 24 catches and two touchdowns
