I wouldn't. He's not very good.

C-
He didn't get beat like Brewster did on a regular basis, but he had a couple of bad snaps, he wasn't very impressive in run or pass blocking, and he was at least in part responsible for a few unnecessary time-outs that were called because they couldn't get the snap off in time.

He's the Henne of centers

D. Multiple whiffs and bad snaps which is unacceptable. If we're going to struggle at center then we should start Bowanko and let him take those early season lumps.

Got punked too many times.

Start Bowanko at Center going forward.....
Thats how I'd rate it. (to the OP)

He had a hard time getting push. I think he was one of the reasons there were not any running lanes.

we also might be overrating Bowanko a little bit.
he's probably not much better and could actually be a bit worse.
the ONLY reason I'd play him is if they see him with potential to develop into a solid starter.
If Bowanko was just drafted for depth and has a ceiling that's similar to Brewsters or McClendon's, then I'm not too crazy about him starting.
I guess the only way of finding out is to actually start him.

Hopefully next week.

One more reason Bortles shouldn't be rushed into service.

The worst player on offense today. Even worse than lewis.

On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd rate his performance today a TMD.

disagree there.
its not like he was getting beat like Brewster. He didn't make it unsafe for Chad to play.

Its too early. Don't be a mouth-breather.

Honestly, this is exactly how I feel. Bortles slipped dropping back in the first 3 preseason games he played (I forget if he did in the 4th game or not) and he only played a few quarters total. If it was the regular season, it'd probably be, what? 3 slips in 1 and a half games? The thought of having the eventual franchise QB who's having a hard enough time just dropping back consistently, having to stand there and dive all over the field just to get the snap and then rush into his throw, ignoring mechanics or falling back into bad mechanics? Why? Why would you even want to waste your time and risk it? For a couple of wins this season, while risking multiple years by letting your QB continue to use his bad mechanics?
McClendon's play actually angered me today. Meester's been on his way out for 4-5 years. The best this team could do was a guy who couldn't his QB on 4 consecutive snaps? The snaps were low. They were high. They were to the side. They were straight into the ground (good for a penalty, which I didn't even know existed. I don't know if anyone knew it existed. I don't know if its ever even had to be called before.). They didn't exist at all ( at least once when Henne had to burn a timeout). HOW? How can you not even find a guy who knows how to do the basic tasks of a center when you know your current center is on borrowed time? Sure, they made the push for Mack, but that was a longshot. Sure Gene didn't find anyone to take over for Meester. But Dave and Gus have been here for 2 off-seasons now. They knew Meester was close to done their first year and knew he was gone this past year. McClendon and Brewster were the two best options they could find for arguably the 2nd most important position on the, arguably, most important part of offense? And this is the best for the next 15 games?

You have a creepy obsession with Lewis. Wanna make up some more quotes?

McClendon isn't good. That's not really going to change. He's a below average center.

How would Bowanko end up like Brewster by starting at center? Brewster was always the left guard while waiting for Brad Meester to retire.
