Cecil Shorts is so overrated around here that it aint even funny. Can't wait to they pay him 6-7 million a year and he instantly after turns into Mike Thomas. If we're throwing the early part of the season away with Henne we might as well develop Lee & Robinson and Hurns to be our primary receivers.

If by overrated you mean people here recognize that he's the best receiver on the roster for right now, and the only receiver on the team with more than just minor experience, then yes, he's overrated around here.

The haze isn't just purple.  There's also an aroma of sweet stinky that permeates the nostrils.

It stings the nostrils.

Have fun
It still kills me the number of folks that don't understand "#1" receiver.

He's usually the Z (flanker,) not the X (split end.)

There is no singular silo or list from best to worst.

In other words, if you have a playmaker that can take the top off the defense, he's playing Z (flanker.)  X is your possession receiver.

Shorts is our X, and Lee is starting at Z.  When Robinson is back, he's probably X and Shorts moving inside to Y (slot.)

Call Shorts "#1" all you like, but that's not the role he's being asked to play.  At least, not while Lee is Z.

In a good way.

Can he still be overrated?
Excited to see Hurns get reps in the regular season. Let's see if he carries over that success of getting open to the regular season.

He's the best receiver because you said it? Let the rookies play a game before you give him that title champ. I don't think his best is hard to beat. Hence the word overrated.

Obviously.  Just pick a rabbit hole, then chase.  We have them in all sizes here.

But I do hear they're overrated, too.  #BecauseJaguars

He's the best NFL receiver on this roster based on his stats. Is it really that difficult to grasp?

How well do you understand the NFL? Historically, how do rookie receivers usually do? Not so great, champ.

By your logic Chad Henne is the best quarterback on the team.

He's the best option to start the season. That's not my estimation. That's the decision of those who know best.

This is a what have you done for me lately league. Not a "What have you done for me last 2 years" league. I'd rather give the hot hand a try (hurns) as far as targets go and let things play out from there. Its not like we are saying bench shorts. I just think hurns has deserved his place as given the most snaps/targets for week 1.

Also, That whole "rookie WR's" won't have big numbers stigma is bound to be broken. Esspecially in this pass happy league. Why not hurns?

Based on them actually having a track record... not exactly as you state it but yes, that puts them in a higher trust.

At the same time, the rookies will have the opportunity (and as everyone would expect) to achieve more than their veteran counterparts in due time.

As the saying goes, "now if you want to crown them...!"  You're really arguing semantics here.
Cecil has never been the most talented WR on this team during his tenure, but he has been the most consistent in terms of production. Ultimately, experience is what sets him apart from everyone else. By the end of the season, I expect one of the rookies to flash enough to take the #1 spot. Cecil is a free agent after the season?
Just like I've been saying all along. Funny that the OP started this thread but thinks hurns should be our "#1" I guess he knows better than entire football organization.

Exactly.

Yes, I fully agree, I mean no organization in history has ever been wrong with any depth chart. .. .. Oh wait
