forgot that this was Gata board too

Quote:Gators fans don't know about every other college football team in America. Many of them only know about the Gators. So how can you expect them to know it is not just Florida?

What in the world are you talking about?

I just think no one really cares. It's not a big deal, but it's interesting to see what things that are out of our hands tick people off. Do you have a college team that you root for? I'm just curious. I personally don't like Gator fans, there's a lot of "Jameis sucks" and "Tebow should get a shot"
Quote:I can pretty much give you an example from every college program that has done this in the past....but its only Florida?
I never said it is only UF..only that not "everyone" does it...a significant difference.

What team does not have fans like that?

All the major programs that contend for a national title on a yearly basis would do it.  The players were told they would miss the Idaho game, and they did.  In the grand scheme of things, who cares?

Who cares ...because it is Florida...on that I agree
the fact that Florida kicked Cam Newton and Janoris Jenkins off the team is more than FSU has ever done from a disciplinary point of view.  Jameis stole from a grocery store and didn't miss anything.... WOW such a good program there

Darnit badger. I had in the pool that TMD would be the one to bring up FSU in a thread completely unrelated to them today.

It's always been UF's policy to suspend troublemakers for the cupcake games and then bring them back when it matters. When their foot is put to the fire by rescheduling, like this year or the year their opener was rescheduled due to a hurricane warning, they always forgive the suspensions.

If FSU does something shady, I get upset. For example, I was very upset over the fake class a few years ago with the tutors handing out answers. I am not upset a dual-sport athlete was suspended in the sport that was going on at the time of the infraction and not the other one. You might not care about his baseball suspension, but Jameis did and the team certainly didn't want to lose their best closer.

I believe any Gator fan should be upset that players that were supposed to get a suspension will end up not being suspended for any game during the season. If Gator fans don't care, THAT is what makes me lose respect for the program.

That is everyone's policy... unless you open with a decent team like OK. St.

What about Jameis?  Dude got no suspension and did something actually worse than smoking weed.

I'm no fool.  I know all these anti-UF threads are fueled by FSU/UGA homerism

According to Florida laws:

Quote:Possessing 20 or fewer grams of marijuana is a first degree misdemeanor punishable with up to one year in jail.

In Florida, the lowest level theft offense is called "petit theft." If the property stolen is valued at less than $100, the offender commits petit theft of the second degree, which is a misdemeanor of the second degree. A sentence of not more than 60 days and a fine not to exceed $500 can result from conviction of a misdemeanor of the second degree in Florida.

So, you're just tossing out blanket statements based on how you feel without any real information, right?

If you haven't heard about his baseball suspension yet, I'm sure someone will mention it at some point in this thread.

And FSU suspended one of their top 3 receivers for OK State, so apparently it's our policy no matter who we open with.

But please, don't let me interrupt the rant. Carry on.

Wasn't Oklahoma state supposed to be cake for FSU? If not...then why was everyone surprised at how close the game was?

I know marijuana is illegal...

That doesnt change the fact that stealing is on a whole other level as far as integrity is concerned. Just because the letter of the law says stealing is not as bad as smoking weed doesnt mean i have to agree with it.

I wasnt that surprised considering FSU is a fraud. They didnt even really earn the championship last year. They coasted through a cake schedule and then needed a fluke play to win against the first legit opponent they faced.

They got Ok st in a down year. And they still got lucky with a fumble.

Well that didn't take long...
This thread is funny.  FSU fans act like they are better than UF when it comes to discipline. Badger is correct in pointing out that Jameis actually stole something, which to me is a huge character flaw.  A rape was alleged and another girl had to seek counseling because of something he did.....He didn't miss one second of football.

I like watching Jameis play, but if that happened at UF/Miami, FSU fans would gladly point out how corrupt their program is because of it.

Yes, I, an FSU fan, believe my school that I like is better than yours. Raise your hand if you're shocked . . . Now how many people think the school they cheer for is better than others . . .

Now that that's out of the way, I'm hearing two messages from the UF faithful. "They did miss the Idaho game, so no issue here." Which is ludicrous logic. That would be like forgiving a jail sentence because the person got snowed in and couldn't reach the jail. "They were imprisoned somewhere, so no issue here." The point of disciplining an individual is not to reach a certain level of suffering. If you don't know what the point is, you need more help than can be provided through a message board.

The other is that "All the school's do it." As navyguy (Thank you for your service) rightfully points out on page 1:

Quote:I would not accept the "everyone else does it" from my children . . . let alone a grown man.

If you want to discuss FSU's flaws and incidents, feel free to bring back to life the dozens of threads on those incidents. FSU, UGA, and Alabama could be the most corrupt and dirty programs in the history of college football, and that wouldn't change the facts of this instance.

So we'll dismiss the point that FSU didn't suspend a player that admitted to a crime?

I'm not even a UF fan, but you can't really talk down to one school when your school doesn't suspend a guy just because he's a Heisman winning qb and your first game could be tough.  To now say you can't talk about in this thread is disingenuous.

There punishment was to miss the Idaho game. The Idaho game has come and gone.  Nobody said they had to miss the Eastern Michigan game.
FSU didn't suspend a player that admitted to a crime. - 100% false. I know baseball suspensions apparently don't count, but it is a suspension.

I said they had to. Several people have said they need to. The Idaho game never happened. Therefore they never served a suspension.
