Quote:I thought Pasztor played well given the circumstances. The run blocking and interior OL was still really bad.
Fast forward to this year....and the interior is still really bad and shows no signs of being fixed and the same goes with the run blocking.
The season starts next Sunday

Oh, so we only count good play in the preseason. Gotcha.
I seem to recall others that have no problem crowning our QB based off of what we've seen in the preseason. But I guess that doesn't apply to the OL's play.
McClendon was probably the best guard on the team last year. He played at the end of the year I thought.

Thats about as similar a compliment as saying that Henne probably played the best QB on the team last year, too.
Doesn't mean either are any good.
The offensive line is going to be rough this year. Pasztor is our best lineman and he's just above average. Joeckel isn't too far behind him. Beadles and Linder are below average. McClendon may be the worst starting center in the league.
Bowanko hasn't been good, but I'd still start him over McClendon as he's been better and with room to develop. I thought Shatley was just average and I believe it was one of the first two games where I thought he was bad. I do like our depth at tackle, at least.
We need a center Asap! I hope somebody steps up so we don't have a bad o-line this year. Glad B.B. not starting right now. Henne will be taking a lot of hits. I hope they establish the running game because that will stop some of the bleeding of trying to pass protect. But its not looking good fellas.

I'd prefer Bowanko at C myself, but there was so much bouncing around on the interior of this line during the preseason. Hopefully now that they are set on who is playing where they'll be able to focus. The coaching staff hasn't done us wrong yet.
Quote:Since Bradley took over? All one season? And considering the circumstances, the tackle play with Bradfield/Pasztor was pretty good. Rackley sucked, Meester and Uche were done. What did you expect him to do?
His Expectations are Below and Beneath...

Bradley says McClendon's experience gave him edge over Bowanko to start at center. #Jaguars

That kind of thinking won't work here. You must jump to conclusion, prematurely judge, question every move, and whenever possible, panic like your hair is on fire.

Sorry, but Joekel and Linder are our best linemen.

Just like Meester before him, Bowanko will get seasoned in the NFL before he'll be our starting C.
But who knows... if Linder acclimates and continues to grow, he may become the C if Bowanko shows he can play G. If you've got a star interior lineman that can play C and he's the best of the bunch, you should be playing him at C.
It will be interesting to see how this plays out the next couple seasons.

Oh, yes sir.
Bowanko and McClendon are close enough right now that which one starts is not nearly as important as this particular lineup getting a chance to put some snaps together and gel. If the lineup can stay stable they have a much better chance of having some consistent improvement as the season progresses.
I just wonder what they were supposed to do. They threw the sink at Mack and the browns took the bait. They drafted two linemen this year, signed one this year and drafted and one last year. This is a true complete rebuild. can we give it sometime. Everything can not be fixed in two off-seasons.
These guys are young and can improve

Dude. Stop making sense, that has no place here.

Deeeer.... Can we trade Bowanko since he has starting potential? Surely he can fetch a 2nd rounder.
The offensive line is so young and inexperienced that this will certainly take a while longer to get them all on the same page.....with that said, you can copy/paste the "Oline is in trouble" for the last last 5,6,7 years. I distincly recall this being a conversation EVERY single season. Whether valid or not, Offensive lines always take the longest to look in sync and also always usually play the poorest in the pre-season. This may in fact be a really bad O-line, but it's still humourous that the collective panic is identical every year.
It would be nice if we could continue to change our starting Center every game. Really mix things up. The other team wont know what to do.
