Quote:Exactly. Even a guy like Gabbert can be made to look good with the right selection of plays.
No, not really. Even on most of Gabbert's so called "good plays" that you would feature in it have taints, like the long bomb TD in the Raiders game....it was underthrown and a poor pass.
Quote:Here are 3:53 seconds of Gabbert highlights minus the epic intro.

OMG, that might be the most cringeworthy highlight/ tribute ever.
...from the cliche response he gives to the first question - onward....
The pass at 1:20 is nice.

No way.
Look at this ball placemement.
The Niners got themselves a monster.

Okay, you've convinced me, Mallet is obviously legit since the article links a few "good decision" throws at guys backs.

Gabbert made a nice pass there, but lets be real....it was about a 15 yard pass (past the LOS) and the Colts screwed up in coverage. I'd think that most of the NFL QB could/ would have made that same pass.

Yeeeah....because we all know the receiver is never at fault in a timed route.

We spent a lot of time in Jacksonville obsessing over WRs.
Pretty much since Jimmy Smith retired.
Sometimes the WR is the problem, but it's strange how once Garappolo came in the WRs suddenly weren't so bad.

Maybe Jimmy doesnt throw so hard. You cant deny there were a lot of perfectly thrown dropped passes.

There are always excuses for bad play.
Mallet's not the answer, there's a reason he was acquired for literally as close to nothing as a trade can be worth.

NFL GM"s are mostly sheep anyway.
Its the main reason Mallett fell in the draft to begin with.
Talent was never the issue.
Mallett got a bad off-field rep prior to the draft and it still affects him to this day,
The Texans were smart to ignore the negative and exploit it to get this QB for pennies on the dollar.
He has franchise QB ceiling.

While i'm not 100% sure you're not a fry cook, I am sure you're not an economist.

Not sure what your point is -
The Texans just landed a franchise ceiling QB for a future 7th round pick. Thats great value.
Not sure how that backs up your above comment.

When you start talking about ceilings instead of performance it's obvious you're headed to troubled waters.

I'm sure those receivers had some excuses no doubt. But other than "I dropped a perfect pass" or maybe "Ryan throws to hard" I'm not sure what they might be.

Like I said, it's funny how the same receivers perform so much better with a different QB, yet it's the receivers fault.
All I can say is your team is going to regret not taking Bortles for a lot of years.

Unless your agenda needs you to focus on the coach and not the player.

As with anything else, a value is dictated by the market, i.e., supply and demand. His value
is a future 7th round pic, that's the best the Pats could do. So no, it's not great value or "pennies on the dollar". And by "franchise ceiling QB", that label is coming from a fan with very questionable ability to evaluate talent, not GMs, scouts and coaches around the league.

A franchise ceiling QB? Can't say I have heard someone reach like that before.
