Quote:For those out of coverage/interested, the NFLN is replaying the game Sunday morning at 3:00 am per the NFL website.

I thought you had to buy a preseason package for that.
I know from experience that most with sports bars you have no shot to see the Jags preseason games, unless they are being nationally televised on NFLN/ ESPN/ CBS/ NBC/ etc etc....

The preseason games are NOT part of the Sunday ticket, so they won't be able to be seen...

Unless, you go to a sports bar that has the OLD giant satellite type thing outside where they can get the Jacksomville or Atlanta local stations....thats the only way you will be watching the game live (legally/ or for free) if you live far away, like me.

Quote:If you are out of coverage, you can watch it on preseason pass live.  If you are stuck in the gray area in a secondary market for the Jaguars, you can watch it on CBS at 130 AM tonight.

Do you have to pay for live coverage? If not, I will keep it in mind next year. I was sure I saw something about you have to pay to watch preseason games.

What do you mean by stuck inv a secondary market? I thought people in secondary markets are able to watch the game.
The NFL does offer an Online service called NFL Preseason Live,  which enables you to watch all of the NFL preseason games live that aren't on National TV.   You can also view all of the pre-season games at your convenience until your subscription expires.   After 24 hours after a nationally televised preseason game occurs,  you can view it on NFL Preseason Live.   The package costs $ 14.99.

Tidbits from rotoworld;

The Jaguars are sticking to their plan of not rushing Blake Bortles despite him clearly outplaying Henne in the preseason. Henne has completed 25-of-38 passes (65.7 percent) for 231 yards with one touchdown and two fumbles through three games. He'll be on a short leash and need to be an effective game manager to keep the job. Bortles is going to push for starts sooner than later. Aug 22 - 11:41 PM

Bortles came off the bench at the end of the first half and led the Jaguars to a field goal. He played with the starters for the first time this preseason and didn't disappoint. Bortles showed good anticipation on his throws and was able to lead his receivers into open spots. He's 28-of-44 for 435 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions through three preseason games. Chad Henne remains the favorite to start Week 1, but it's becoming clear Bortles gives Jacksonville its best chance to win

Hurns saw regular snaps with the first team, playing opposite Marqise Lee in two-wide sets. He played in OC Jedd Fisch’s system at Miami and has shown good chemistry with Chad Henne and Blake Bortles. Hurns' touchdown came against second-stringers on an 11-yard pass from Bortles in the third quarter. He's now up to 13 receptions for 230 yards and a touchdown through three preseason games. Hurns is a candidate to start Week 1 over Lee or Cecil Shorts. He's worth a look as a late-round flier

Radio stations. I hate hearing games on the radio, but was wondering if anyone can hear it outside of a TV coverage area.

We are supposed to get away games on CBS WKMG since we (Daytona) are in a secondary market.  They didn't do that last week.  Instead it was on channel 6.2.

Yes, you can pay to watch the games live on preseason live online, but that wont work if you live anywhere near Jacksonville.  The game will be blacked out.  CBS has the rights to live coverage, but they aren't really showing it live for everybody.  Only people with cable or an antenna can watch it on channel 6.2.

If your local CBS is showing the game on their regular channel (Gainesville for example), everybody can watch.  If you get WKMG, you cant get the game unless you get channel 6.2

Quote:I thought you had to buy a preseason package for that.

He means on the TV station NFL Network.  They'll replay the condensed versions of the games on later dates.

If you want to stream the game online you have to buy the preseason pass for $20, but it'll still blackout local market games like they did last week.
Quote:I know that's why, but it doesn't make sense.  They should not have to black out a game that isn't accessible to everybody in the area.

I didn't realize this.   You and the others adversely affected by this should be able to watch the Jaguars pre-season game live,  instead of having to wait 24 hours.

This reminds me of the many years that NFL Sunday Ticket would blackout games scheduled for local TV.   Yet,  there were times when the early game on local TV would run into the start of the late game.   Hence,  the people with NFL Sunday Ticket wouldn't be able to see the beginning of the late game if they didn't live in a home market of the teams in that game.   In recent years,   NFL Sunday Ticket has corrected this.    I hope you get the same satisfaction with the situation mentioned in this thread.

Finally some insight about the game itself. The Hurns report makes me think he is already guaranteed a spot on our roster and Tandem Doss will be the one we cut if we can't keep both players. I agree with the decision to start Chad Henne in Week 1, but let Blake Bortles practice with the starters.
Quote:I'm in California so i'm with you.  I'm just really hoping this sports bar i found will show it.  They say so on their webpage so we'll see. It's tough being a Jag fan!

Yep. I joined the Service right after the '96 run so most of my "fan life" I've spent as an out of town fan. I usually get to a game or two per season, but most of my football watching is spent in some crappy Sports Bar tryin' to get people to shaddup talkin'.

Yeah, i found that out last week, i was so pissed.  The sports bar i found is advertising like they will show it, but i better call and cofirm!

I think CBS WKMG is abusing their rights to the game.  They are technically airing the game, but only on a channel accessible to cable subscribers or antennas.  NFL.com should not have to consider this as them actually airing the game.  WKMG is going to show some other game that I don't care about, not JAX vs ATL.  It's like they are claiming rights to two games at once, which shouldn't be allowed.

I had DirecTV when I lived in Ohio. When the Jaguars played against the Browns or Bengals, I could only watch the game on WBNS Channel 10 (Columbus CBS affiliate). For all other Jaguars games not played at night, I needed NFL Sunday Ticket. The only downside of this was the NFLST channel changed every week, which didn't make any sense.

Unfortunately, only one cable provider operates in my area, so I Bam stuck with a bad company because TV satellites are not allowed where I live for cosmetic reasons. It  usually does not affect my ability to watch Jaguars games, but I had to miss the Chargers game last year. I am just glad I did not miss one of our three wins.

OK, enough about TV coverage problems. Let's get on to the game we are all waiting for!

I totally agree with you.

This gets back to the other problem that has been discussed for many years on this MB,  in that this CBS Station in Orlando wants to distant itself from the Jaguars as much as they could.   It will be interesting to see what transpires if the Jaguars become a Super Bowl caliber team in the next few seasons and the Dolphins continue on their current path of instability.

Crap, I was looking forward to watching Zane Beadles in teal.

Who is the kicker?

It seems like every year people in Orlando complain about not being able to watch the Jaguars. That should change when Blake Bortles becomes the permanent  starter. Of course that does not mean it will if Orange County has more Dolphins fans.

Except I don't even live in Orlando.  Im 1.5 hours away from Orlando.  Im right in the middle between Jax and Orlando, but for some reason I'm stuck with Orlando TV affiliates.
