Quote:You still can't put it all on the QBs. The team was hampered by a less than stellar running game, and an offensive line that would've struggled vs. a Pop Warner team at times.

I agree that you can't put it ALL on the QB, the whole team was bad, except for Scobee and Anger and JB when he played.

Which kind of team will end up with a better record over the course of a season?

A really good team with a really bad QB? Or

A really bad team with a really good QB?

Which scenario would you rather have?

Obviously you take the good QB. That wasn't the case here last year. We had a bad team and a mediocre QB. If the team improves, a mediocre QB can become far more effective.
Quote:Henne will do fine if the fans get behind him.

Starting Bortles would be crazy considering he has never seen the speed of a regular season NFL game.

All it would take is one blitz in the regular season to get inside Bortles head and lose the game.
That is an opinion not a fact. Blake has yet to show any indication that pressure has any affect on his play and that was when he was playing with to ones (speed) last week.
Quote:Hopefully Blake could be as elite as him one day though. I do feel that Chad Henne has improved under Frank Scelfo the QB coach, but we all realize that Blake Bortles is the future & most of us want to see it be the present.

Henne certainly doesn't seem to have improved as much as Gus insists that he has.

Don't trust your eyes. Just trust what Gus says. Didn't you know? Henne was bluffing the first 6 years of his career. This is the year he turns it on.
Quote:No...

Normally "the backup" doesn't get any first team reps during the season at all, because the starter gets all of them.

This isn't just about possible injury, it's clear they're thinking about his eventual insertion as starter.
My thoughts exactly. Blake will eventually be the starter this year, and this is the biggest tell to date.
Quote:So, there's a required process each team must follow? Or, is it remotely possible different teams do things differently?

I think it's safe to say we don't have Tom Brady here.
Jacksonville Jaguars starting QB ...Chad Brady??? or is it... Tom Henne???
