Quote:There was an orange dinosaur on Blanding?  I know the one on Beach still exists, but never knew there was one on that side of town.

Yeah. It was still open in the mid-90's as I had some friends that worked there.

It was a craphole though.
Quote:Was that the place that had the giant orange dinosaur?

That was Goony Golf wasn't it? The T Rex had the moving arm that picked up and dropped the caveman.

Is that the place that had the "fast" go carts?
The orange dinosaur has always been on Bch. It was a putt putt place before someone bought it and put in the strip mall, which includes a smoke shop. He must have liked the dinosaur enough to keep it there. Had a fence put up around it and everything.
Quote:I don't see the point in keeping Sanders AND Doss on the roster.  I would suspect that when the dust settles on this roster, one of them won't be around.

Doss seems closer to the "bubble" than Sanders, even with the suspension.

I disagree. Doss is already a better returner and could be just as good of a weapon at WR. ....and is not an infraction away from a year long suspension.

Agree. If Doss survives cuts this weekend, I doubt he stays with the team when Sanders returns.

I agree.  I think they'd be less inclined to dump Sanders at this point despite the suspension.

Yup.  I don't see him lingering once Sanders is back unless Ace just looks awful.
Yeah, I'm hoping this thing with the suspension was a learning experience for Ace.  Man he had some of the few "wow" moments of last year.  I was really excited to watch him during this pre-season.

I hope he's figured things out and is ready to make a leap in 2014.

Yeah, like "wow, under 10 YPC??"

or

"wow, the fewest broken tackles of all the AFC WR" B)

...and then it was "wow, a 4 game suspension?!!"

He really didn't have many positive "wow" moments and thats whats disappointing.

He took a slant for 50 yards earlier in the season...

I guess the term "many" was lost on you on the post you quoted.

Yawn.  You already admitted to not watching the last 4 or 5 games last year.  Of course you didn't see his wow moments.  You know he was a rookie that put up nearly 500 receiving yards and only saw full action in 13 games, right?  That's respectable.

Another thing you'd have noticed - had you even watched the games - was the pass to Ace Sanders behind the line of scrimmage that Fisch inserted after the bye week.   They must have run it a dozen times or more. It is designed to get them about 5 yards  -- more if the defense screws up. Once other teams started to sniff it out - it obviously hurt his average.    (Since you didn't see it  - Sanders lines up as tail back - scoots out wide - and catches the ball 4 or 5 yards behind the LOS and races up the edge.)

The kid is a good receiver.  You're just unable to let go of your knee-jerk bad reaction to his selection in the draft.

When did I say I didn't watch the last 4 or 5 games?? :ermm:

We're talking 2013, not 2012. In 2012 I remember being bored out of my mind watching the final 5, so I didn't pay too much attention ending that dead season, but last year? No, I paid attention to them all. Definitely during the winning stretch of 4 of 5. I vaguely remember maybe 1 game I might have not seen at the bar due to being sick and had to watch at home on the Red zone channel, but thats still seeing all the big plays.

Throwing a touchdown pass qualifies as a wow moment to me.

It was arguably our best play of the season.

I don't remember what the topic was that we were derailing or I'd look it up.  I do remember that you had yourself all worked up over us winning a few meaningless games and giving up Teddy to the Texans and setting this franchise back a decade or more, blah, blah, blah and when pressed, you admitted to not watching most of the game that day as well as a few others  --  since we had already blown our chances at the Messiah of the 2014 draft etc. etc.

I can't (don't care to) prove any of that, so, call it bull if you like. Fine with me. My conscience is fine with my recollection.   The larger point that should be made right now is that all of this carrying on about Sanders and Shorts YPC avg is soooo ridiculous   --  since it was Henne throwing the ball. You need to cherry-pick a new stat.

Put it this way, I've seen all the plays (big plays) that had to be seen last year. As said, I vaguely remember possibly not being at the bar for maybe one game last year due to being sick, but I saw all the big plays on the red zone at home.....and on top of that, I specifically remember the Sanders 50 yard play against the Tinhorns that you cited.

I also remember a few other nice plays by Sanders vs Cleveland and vs Arizona, -, but overall the entire body of work was not that impressive.

I really thought he would have been better in getting YAC yards via broken tackles and that never really materialized.
It's just 4 minutes, and it does not even have the run down the sideline that I thought was his greatest play of the season.  His greatest run, that I reference as the WoW, was when I realized he was legit was called back for some reason.  I don't remember what the penalty was, or who we were playing--- 2013 was a blur of suck and pain.

If anyone else remembers the play I'm talking about, please remind me!  He burned the entire secondary and just looked like lightning in a bottle.  I remember thinking to myself that I had never seen a Jaguar WR look like that before--Full disclosure--- I didn't become a Jaguar fan until 2006

At any rate, Ace was a shining spot that I thought would be a strong piece to our WR puzzle for this year.  I still have some confidence that he'll get his act together.

For anyone to downplay Ace as some joke that should be downplayed because of his substance abuse issue, I'd refer you to certain people that downplay the substance abuse issue as a non-factor for legit players.  LOL

Ace's rookie season considering the number of targets he had, along with plays he made, makes me think that the coaching staff believes he is legit.

I just hope he doesn't fall into the J.Blackmon model.

By the way, J.Blackmon had suck games his rookie year.  He had crocodile hands against GB, and quit on routes during that game as well when the game was on the line.

I never saw Ace ever give up on plays.  I never questioned Ace's heart in terms of catching the ball in traffic.  Justin, on the other hand, gave up many times on plays his rookie year.

I'd give the benefit of the doubt to Ace, and dump Justin any day of the week.  4 times on Sunday.  Ace comes to play.

I just hope Ace figures it out.  He'll be a great asset, he just needs to prioritize.
