who woulda thought huh? its a good teaching experience in preseason.
Following along on Twitter, the beat guys assigned the blame on Telvin Smith.

@HaysCarlyon: Telvin Smith got lost there. Reggie Bush goes 86 yards for TD. #Jaguars
Despite Bush's run, our D only gave up 13 points. In the NFL, you're going to see occasional outstanding runs, catches, tackles, etc. if we average giving up only 13 points/game, we should have a winning season.
Quote:My initial concern and question was....

"Are you telling me nobody on our defense can catch 29 year old Reggie Bush?"

Since when was 29 old?
It just looked like a great cut back by Reggie bush to me. Good backs make people miss and find holes.
Over pursuit on a cut back runner. Happens often, and in fact, Fred Taylor's first TD run against Baltimore was exactly the same play with exactly the same result.

Ask Jones-Drew

I'd pay a lot of money to be 29 again, but for an NFL RB, .... well, they would pay a lot of money to be 23 again.
Didn't Boselli break this play down on the replay and pointed out that Red Bryant made a mistake going inside when it was his responsibility to maintain the backside gap control, and as a result he left a gaping hole on that side of the line?  Cyprien was actually stepping up to fill the inside gap that SHOULD have been his responsibility when Bryant basically got in his way, leaving both guys out of position for that run.  I just watched it again, and that was definitely on Bryant.  Once Bush got into the 2nd level, the defenders were well blocked.  There was clearly at least one hold that wasn't called, but that's the way it goes.

It looks like great blocking
Aside from Bryant getting caught up in the traffic, it was great blocking that broke that run.  Had he contained as he should have, it probably wouldn't have gone for 86 yards.
Well I believe it was in the paper yesterday that Red Bryant texted Gus that it was pretty much him that messed it up and he felt bad about it and it was unacceptable.

He must have watched the replay.

We'll according to certain posters with an obvious agenda it was without a doubt Cyprien.

It's tough to shed those agendas.

I thought I heard Gus say in a press conference that Cyp needed to trust Bryant to fill his gap which kind of implies that Cyp messed up. He said it was a great teaching moment. I'll see if I can dig up that link.

Well, if you watch the play, Cyprien was trying to fill his gap, and the guy who should have been trusted to do so was the one who messed up.  If Bryant is apologizing to Gus, it's clear he thought he made the mistake.

I am more impressed that, that was the only TD we gave up in the half.
