8-8, we have a string of 3 losses back to back. But at 8-8 in our weak conference we might have a shot at getting a wild-card.

The Ravens, Giants, and Dolphins all missed the playoffs last year. If we somehow sneak into the playoffs, we will do it by beating one of those three teams.

10-6, book it

Henne plays full season or do we start 0-6 before Bortles comes in?
6-6, Bortles plays last 4
Quote:6-6, Bortles plays last 4
That's only 12 games

6-10 Bortles only a couple games

9-7 Henne only a couple of games

6-10 Bortles only a couple games

9-7 Henne only a couple of games
Our record is 6-6, and Bortles plays last 4 games, and our record then is 10-6, I was responding to a question

Jaguars go 8-8. Hurns ends up starting by the end of the season. Allen Robinson plays limited time all season with a lingering Hamstring injury. Marcedes has the second great season of his career. Branch has a mediocre season, while the four dline starters have solid seasons. The Leos (Clemons, Branch, Davis, Smith) combine for 22 sacks. Shorts has a solid season, but only good enough to receive a tender for next season. Gratz grows into a number 1 corner, and Cyprien improves. Center remains a problem throughout the season. Joeckel will progress, but still receive criticism. Bortles ends up having a rookie season compared to Andrew Luck's. Overrall, the team will be much improved with more depth and a lot more speed.
I agree with most of this. Jags will beat Indy week 3, but lose to Redskins and Cowboys. They will end up 7-9. Not sure about Mercedes having a great year. He'll be needed to provide additional protection for the q.b. due to extremely shaky O. Line. The Bortles prediction is possible, however it naturally depends on when Bradley decides to start him. I would like to see him start against the Browns as you predict, however that is not likely unless Henne plays very poorly. It's more likely he starts for the first time after the bye week against the Colts or the following week at home vs. the Giants.
The Jaguars will win every game they play this year when they win the turnover battle.

6-10; 3rd in AFC South.

Key Final Stats

Bortles (9 Games)- 61.3%, 1950 YDS, 13 TD's, 5 INT.

Gerhart- (16 Games)- 1200 YDS, 10 TD's.

Lee (15 Games)- 61 REC, 870 YDS, 6 TD'S

Shorts (12 Games)- 51 REC, 630 YDS, 5 TD's

Hurns (16 Games)- 45 REC, 520 YDS, 5 TD's

Robinson (10 Games)- 37 REC, 310 YDS, 0 TD's.

Gratz (15 Games)- 3 INT

Poz (16 Games)- 130 TT, 1 Sacks, 2 INT.

T. Smith (16 Games) 55 TT, 3.5 Sacks, 1 INT.

Henne starts strong but really begins to fade during weeks 4-7.  Gus stays with Henne despite the struggle and it doesn't pay off as the Jaguars hit a 4 game losing streak streak in early on.  Bortles is finally called upon and leads the to victories in two of his first three games.  Bortles then begins to struggle a bit before leading the team to victories in two of their last three games and looking strong in doing so.  The team heads to the off-season with tons of momentum and Bortles as their unquestioned signal caller heading into the next season.

In my opinion between 6-10 and 8-8.  I still think the team is going to struggle(maybe even suck) on offense.  The OL is swiss cheese at every position.  I predict Gerhart lasts all of about 4-5 games before being injured. The defense will keep them in most games.

Next year, in my opinion, if things keep progressing, a playoff berth may be in the offing.

I look for Khan/Caldwell to go after even bigger FAs this offseason.

So me saying 6-7 wins this season is being "pessimistic"?!

ROFL!!!!!!

Even better is that your pessimism is not realistic, based on the 1996 season.  Laughing

If things keep gpong according to plan, they won't have to.

Other than a top flight DE or top flight Center in their primes (which likely won't be available in FA anyway)....what exactly will we need?

QB? no

WR? no

RB? prob not.

OT's? no

CB? maybe but prob not with McCray and Colvin stepping up

S? okay thats a possibility

DT? no

LB? maybe,...

OG? no

RG//OC//RT depending on where Linder settles and how Paztor looks.

TE//OLB//MLB//FS all need to be addressed.

Roy Miller replacement at DT...A young stud Leo

There are still some holes...
Whoa whoa whoa. Hold on.

No one has pointed out that JW is back?!?! I mean, it's like she's been gone for months!

I don't know, Ron JW. That was half a lifetime ago. We're different people now. When you left, the hurt was so deep. I don't know if I can go through that again.

A few people did welcome me back, actually.  Smile

I think the pain will not go away until Blake Bortles finally starts a game because everyone is so impatient to see #5 under center. Our decision to "redshirt" him is why the media keeps saying next year is when we get back to the playoffs, so I expect to spend a lot of time reading complaints about Gus Bradley waiting too long to put him in a losing game.

Almost every one of those positions other than QB and DT need an upgrade.  Beadles is no good. He's looked horrible.  They still need better WRs, spare me Shorts, he's a 3 on most teams.  RBs, come on man, really?  OTs, Joeckel looks a bust and Cam Bradfield and Pasztor?  The CBs other than Ball have proven nothing and Gratz is injury prone.  They need another stud LB other than Smith and Poz.

So, yes I HOPE they are major players in FA.  I.e. a gamechanging FA if they are available.  The FA they signed this year are NOT game changers, period.

Now you are looking like the next TMD. Would you rather have Kerry Taylor and Mike Brown playing with Cecil Shorts? Would you rather have Cameron Bradfield start at  left tackle than Luke Joeckel? Come on, man, you should know we are slowly improving and it just takes time.

If Joeckel looks like a bust, go back to our 12th play in St. Louis last year. That explains everything.

If you think Toby Gerhart is a bust, look at Minnesota's depth chart the last four years. Nobody can compete with Adrian Peterson for the starting job.

If you think Zane Beadles looks like a bust, explain how Will Rackley and Eben Britton were better left guards than he is.

You have to give the team credit for ridding itself of many Gene Smith players and upgrading a variety of positions.
Time to look at our full 2014 schedule again. Now let's keep this thread bumped up by posting new predictions each week based on how we and our future opponents are and who injured what. This is not for debating who should start the next game or if the depth chart should change at any position because we have many other threads for those topics.

Starting with the Eagles, I think we lose this one by double digits, but do not get blown out early.
