We have a hell of a scouting department.
Slide a plate my way. I've already ate a couple servings but with the drunken fit I threw I deserve more.

Now thats weird because if there was anything to NOT question Bortles on coming off of his last season, it was the above. He had several very nice comeback wins where he indeed put up lots of points including on the bigger stages.

I had more of a question with his overall numbers not being productive enough over the course of a long season.

Hey we agree on something.

Thats not eating crow...
I'll own up to it. I think I deserve double portions because, not only did I not like the pick, I actually didn't give him a fair shot during my pre-draft breakdown of the QBs. I remember, I was at the draft party with my father and brother, all of us hoping for Manziel. When we heard the pick we literally left immediately and were trash-talking the regime with some other fans who felt similarly. Being wrong isn't always bad.

I didn't think he could do it against NFL competition and some of the better teams ucf played....they put up a ton of points from the get go.
"You're gonna need a bigger crow"
I liked Bortles until about a month before the draft, but then got swept up in the Johnny hype train and didn't think Bortles would be worth it at 3. I felt like everyone loved his measurables, and I was angry on draft night because I thought the new regime made the same mistake the old one did with Gabby.

I'm very happy I was wrong. The tinhorns have to be kicking themselves.
I was just too infatuated with Teddy and Johnny for obvious reasons. The name and the blockbuster/comparisons to Wilson respectively. That and Bortles was a lesser known commodity. I was willing to look past Teddy's Pro Day, and believed Johnny would take his career more seriously. Bortles has clearly looked the best so far. I think Teddy can still succeed, and Johnny will bust
As much as I'm eating crow here, I'm equally thankful that Bortles did NOT go to the Texans or Titans. That would have really sucked.

I'd say at this point, Bortles, Garoppolo and Mettenberger ALL look pretty good though.

I remember before the draft wanting Clowney or Bridgewater.  After they surprised me a little by picking Bortles, I immediately went out and watched some video and read some assessments and started getting excited that day.  Caldwell will not ALWAYS hit home runs but his batting average is starting to look pretty phenomenal.

I was so discouraged bye the Gabbert fiasco and failure I didn't even voice my opinion of the BB pick.

I was so excited tho when that pick happened. ..I live in so cal...so I was the only one at the sports bar who jumped up and screamed...Yaaaa baby! When they announced our pick. Im so excited about our future! Cant wait to see luck v bortles

NO GM always hits homeruns.

It's improbable as well as impossible.
Nah, Bliff Bortles is just a creation of the local Gator-infested media.
I'll admit I didn't like Bortles at one point because of his fast rise.  It took some time for me to realize how silly it was -- when any artificial hype would be pumped into Johnny Football.

I think Garoppolo looks okay.  I think he'll make a good backup QB.  Much better than Ryan Mallet.  Not sure I'd say he's franchise material though.  His numbers are good, but I don't think he has what it takes.

Mettenberger too has some issues.  He could be a future starter, and for a 6th round pick, that's amazing.  I'm still surprised Tom Savage went over him.  If he gets time to develop, it could be a solid project for the tacks.  much better imo, than Savage for the Texans.

Of the Rookies, I think only Bortles and Bridgewater are ready to start this year.  I think Garopollo could probably start on a weaker team (and Manziel could get the nod just because the Browns have nobody else, and a lot of people want to see Johnny play).  I wouldn't be surprised to see some team trade for Jimmy G down the road, and the Patriots recuperate their pick after having a solid backup option for a while in case Tom Brady goes down.

He can really sling the football. I had the total wrong impression of him when I thought he was a conservative type player.

Really happy to have him.
Heres some more crow for ya..;.

Why Henne is starter!

Bortles has no business playing unless Henne goes down. Henne knows how to take a beating. He's been on some pretty bad teams with really bad blocking. And even then, Morris has more experience in a pro style offense. UCF ran a lot of spread IMO.

Hated the pick at first, especially after the browns robbed the bills. But had we passed on bortles, Cleveland would've taken him at #4.

I'll happily eat crow. Crow gumbo?
