Brewster's play has been  no worse than the crappy game the entire starting O-line had tonight. Linder and McClendon got pushed around all night, Joeckel gets beat regularly.

Linder is a rookie and Joeckel is coming off an injury after sitting out his rookie season with one game at LT. Let them adjust (especially Linder).

McClendon is a below average back-up.

Brewster has always been terrible.

Bowanko has upside. Play him.

and Brewster's had a total of 2 starts at center. He took zero snaps at guard all week, and played well there tonight. You can spin this anyway you like , but no one has set themselves apart at center or right guard. If anything, McClendon has been terrible at both.

It seemed the line overall played better with Brewster in the line up as C.

Regardless of who they choose, the position will most definitely get addressed in the offseason.

Or it's already addressed by a guy who will grow into the position this year.

I don't see that guy on our roster.

Well, gosh, after 3 whole preseason games I can see why.

Edit: It's the same crap around here every year. If rookie 6th round picks aren't pro bowlers and Rookie 2nd round picks are Hall of famers by the end of their first pre-season then, darn it, they just suck. Same crap year after year; no patience, no foresight, just "be good today or else." This team is enjoying a rising tide for the first time in a while starting the middle of last year. We've seen good progress, good acquisitions, and a draft that the talking heads have praised, but no one seems willing to let the coaches coach them for more than a week before they start multiple threads about how this guy or that guy or some other guy (all of whom have been here for all of 2 months) aren't playing great yet. It's just frustrating that some people can't enjoy the ride and just want to toss a turd in the punch bowl.

Gene Smith is gone. We no longer put all our hopes on a rookie UDFA to develop.

If someone on the current roster is able to beat out whoever they bring in next offseason then more power to them, but I promise you they are bringing someone new in next offseason.

You do know that the guy who is the topic of this thread was drafted, yes?

Doesn't change the fact that they will be bringing someone new in next year.

"Fact"

Quote:Why not? He's not any worse than either Brewster or McClendon, and the upside is certainly higher.
All things considered give the rookie the shot for the upside.
If he changes his number to 69...then yes. And I'll get a jersey
Hmmm.....The 70 Does Look Odd At Center
Does anyone have their eye on a center that might be cut?
They've gotta pick up somebody else from cuts to throw in the mix don't ya think? Zero depth. It's just a matter of time before Toby plows over one of those slow moving dudes and they get hurt.
Chances of a better player getting cut are slim to none.

This is who we've got until next offseason.

Yeah, one reason why I wish they hadn't thrown all the effort into the failed Mack bid. Even a mid-level guy like Even Dietrich-Smith would've helped this group out a lot.
Quote:If Bowanko wins the starting job,and becomes a quality center, then huge props to Dave for finding him in the 6th rd of the draft

Even more importantly, he would have gotten a starting center for Blaine Gabbert.

Agreed.  They're not going to find a starting center on the waiver wire.
