Quote:You dont need to be a professional to see that Brewster whiffed on multiple occasions (in one half). Play a full game and his mistakes are likely doubled.

Last game he snapped it over the QB twice. This week he snaps it late inside the five. Ya, hes wonderful.
I think I will go with the professional opinions.

I mean, how low can your standards be?

Once again, the people on Jaguars.com are trying to force-feed the idea that Mike Brewster is a starting center in this league.

So far, he has been very poor.

I guess he didn't have a bad snap, whoopdiee-doo.

Yeah, I re-watched the first quarter this morning.  I'm not an expert by any stretch at OL play but he didn't look like he played that well to me.  He got no push at the point of attack, and looked like he was getting thrown around by the Chicago d-linemen pretty easily.  I also was disappointed that Beadles got turned around and run over on a couple occasions but he did play pretty well against Tampa as nearly as I can tell so maybe it's probably not a big deal, I hope.

Thats great. Ill form my own.
Quote:I guess that I'm not the only one that felt outside of a few mistakes he played pretty well.

Meaning, Linder is the guy for the job.

really well > well/solid

If all continue to progress on their current paths, the starting lineup is shaping up to be:

Joeckel Beadles Linder McClendon Pasztor

Maybe even with Bowanko taking over at RG at some point. He played both guard spots at some point in college.
I think Linder and Bowanko have been the best on the interior so far in Pre-Season. Beadles has been solid.

It's too bad Bowanko got hurt, I hope he's not out for a long period.

That's really what it boils down to.

You can go ahead and stamp Beadles and the two tackles as starters.

Word is Linder is the best of interior linemen, and if he is... that begs that you start him at C, by far the most important interior spot.  That leaves RG.  Bowanko's versatility (smaller drop off when playing across all three positions) makes him valuable to the roster.

No matter how good/bad Brewster is truly grading, if Linder is still better at C than Brewster, then that's where he'll play.

I think McClendon will be the odd man out.

Could be, but McClendon can play C as well, and he's a much better G than Brewster.  That's what's going to be tough for Brewster.  If he isn't the best C, then he's way down the list at G because he's not as good at that spot as the rest of the guys who play there.  That's why I think it's going to be tough for him to make the roster if he can't win the C job.  Maybe he still does, but it won't be easy since he's more or less only a C.

I don't think Linder hasn't gotten enough work at C to expect him to start this year. There is too much mental prep involved in becoming the starting C.

I could see the possibility of Linder taking over next year with a full offseason and camp preparation under his belt.

I think he will end up starting at RG and the team will reevaluate things next offseason.
Why do people care what Brian Sexton has to say?

Brewster is not the answer. He could not beat out Meester who wanted to retire .

Linder in now.

We wouldn't care if the sentiment weren't supported by Bradley and Lageman.
I think that Bowanko is the starting center in the future.
Quote:First string offense moved the ball well. I thought the overall blocking was much improved from last week.

He had the one bad play that Gruden called him out for but other than that, I thought he held his own.
This and the fact that the QB's aren't getting sacked left and right. Plus when they settle on the final lineup the guys can start to come together as a unit.
I wish Brewster well.

I think Brewster played alright for the most part... I also think he's peaked as far as his talent goes and the others are playing just as good as he is... their ceilings are much higher than his is at this point... the job was his to lose and he lost it...

In the game last night, there were times when it almost looked like Brewster was waiving the white flag.  Seriously, he was getting pushed into the backfield by backup defensive linemen on every other play.

same thing happened to the starting center, except more often

Did the "starting center" muff any snaps?
