Quote:My comment was based on so many people on the MB who were tired of Sexton. Said he was no good, boring, etc. Wanted a change.

Same old story. Careful what you wish for I suppose.

I do not remember a big movement to get Sexton ousted.

I lost no sleep over him getting removed but Frangie as a replacement was odd.

Many threads and feelings about Sexton not calling games anymore. Whoever posts that wayback time machine thing could probably pull it up pretty easy.

I too didn't lose any sleep over whether he stayed or went either. I was indifferent either way.

There wasn't a big push to get rid of him or he would have been gone a while ago.

In the end, he gave up the broadcast to go back to work for the Jaguars. If Frangie fails, it's quite possible he could wind up back in the booth.

I only recall hearing it from one particular poster.

I was indifferent with Sexton. He was a familiar voice, so it is a little weird not hearing him call games.

But I am hoping the team realizes Frangie is a mistake and hires a real play-by-play guy.

I was never personally crazy about Sexton, always felt like he had his ducks in a row and was prepared, but found his delivery bland. I see Frangie being Henne to Sexton's Garrard (let's ignore Gabbert for this analogy). In other words, a stopgap to get us to the future franchise announcer. ;-)

A push is the wrong word, correct. Just basic MB complaining. More disliked and wanted a change then not on here.

I disagree with that sentiment as well.  I think the majority were indifferent on the subject.  It was a minority that expressed a wish to see him replaced.

There have been probably a handful of threads started with a decent amount of people that were pushing for a change.  TMD was probably the most vocal, but there were definitly quite a few that seemed to want a change.

I personally, was indifferent.
Most people didn't care about Sexton either way.

Most don't like Frangie.

Am I wrong?

I think now that Frangie is on the mic, more people are indifferent towards Sexton.
I was really against Frangie doing PBP in the booth when it was announced based upon his radio show and his quest to be the smartest one in the room. I have to admit after hearing him in the Bucs game he was not bad as I feared and will continue to take a wait and see attitude throughout the preseason. I really like having Jeff and Tony do the color, and the three of them may be workable in the long haul.

I was getting to the point with Sexton where was just OK and there really needed to be a change. I'm not sure if Frangie is the answer but so far I welcome the change over Sexton.

that time warp website could bring up the general feeling on here. I have been stating that about the MB, not the fan base as a whole.

Even if it's just the message board you're referencing, it was really only a handful of fans who expressed any desire to see Sexton replaced.  Let's not oversell it.  The vast majority here never expressed an opinion one way or the other.

TMD posting 1000 times that he doesn't like Sexton doesn't make it a large population that wanted him gone.
He sounded a little better in the background of that Bortles Mic'ed Up video.
Quote:The way Shad Khan is doing everything else first class, the Frangie and Kouvaris selections wreak of impulse buys when there were few other options. They are to the broadcast teams what Mike Mularkey was to the coaching options 3 years ago.

I think Shad Khan is just ensuring favorable local coverage by buying off the local media.  He's giving them a job, making them a part of the team.
Quote:Frangie is terrible.

Kouvaris is terrible.

Neither is qualified to do the job they are currently doing.

Last year the team had Kevin Kugler, who calls Sunday Night football for Westwood One. This year the team has Kouvaris, who is a local sports anchor.

Huge downgrade.

No way around it.
Couldn't have said it better.

Single worst thing Kahn has done to the Jaguar fans since taking over the team.
Radio broadcast?  Who cares, what I want to know is who was supposed to be in the booth as the stadium announcer?  Did that guy ever show up?

I was late to the game and listened to the beginning of the first quarter on the radio.

It was pretty bad, the guy really leaves you hanging during plays. He'll be saying "that was a great play," or "there's a flag down," and that will be what he says until he feels like actually saying what happened.

Such as the TB PI call at the very beginning of the game. It was third down. All he said was something along the lines of, "the pass was caught, but there's a flag." Standard, but he didn't say where the ball was caught and how a penalty would affect it, so you're just left there wondering what's happening.

Sexton is much better.

I think you're probably over-thinking this whole thing.

1010XL got the contract. Frangie has been with 1010XL a long time and probably brings in significant revenue for the station. 1010XL said they want Frangie to do pbp and Khan's rep probably said something like, "Hmm, ok."

I wonder if Shad Khan knows who Frank Frangie is? I assume Mark Lamping does.

It's not like we previously had Vin Scully doing the games.
