Quote:For all intents and purposes, Blackmon is done and we should all move on. Not only has he turned his back on the team and fans, but he doesn't seem to care at all or realize the opportunities he has squandered.

You don't know any of that
So Justin, What did you think of the Jaguars first preseason game?

trollololin'
While I am almost sure that Blackmon is done playing for the Jags, there is a small seed of uncertainty that I have only because he is so talented. Most of these morons that have repeated suspensions suffer on the field, but Blackmon doesn't have that issue. He is just a weak minded idiot.

I agree.  I am almost 99.91% sure that he is done in the NFL but i wish he could use his talent on the field instead with the "field."
I'm done having an opinion on Blackmon.

Take that as you will.

I'll forget about him for now, but I'll be back on the Blackmon train if he comes back. He's a Jag until he's not, so I'll hope for the best. Justin Blackmon the player and the person, Godspeed
You can only hope he gets it together. The guy's a beast on the football field!
But the question becomes, is your best receiver, Justin Blackmon, worth more to you than your #5 or #6 receiver, if your best receiver is a huge risk of getting banned for life?   Do you cut a Kerry Taylor or Allan Hurns in order to activate Justin Blackmon?  Because if you cut an Allan Hurns or Kerry Taylor, or whomever is the last receiver on our depth chart, they will surely get picked up by another team and be lost to us forever.

It's a legitimate question.

(And a similar question applies to Ace Sanders.   One violation away from a one year suspension.)

His actions sure do speak pretty loudly.

The answer is absolutely, yes. Undrafted, unproven players or a player you traded up into the top of the first round who's put up 200 yard games.

I really like Hurns, but he's a dime a dozen. Every year, every team has players that play as well as him in camp and then never amount to anything. He could be one of the few who rise, but realistically the odds are not in his favor to become an NFL starter, let alone pro bowl level.

I remember Stanley Wilson, the RB for the Bengals, who disappeared on the day he was supposed to play in the Super Bowl.  He was on a cocaine binge that started the night before and he missed the Super Bowl.   Imagine the effect that had on his teammates.

I want players I can rely on, not players who are one sniff from disappearing forever.   Hurns may not have Justin Blackmon's talent, but he will probably be there when you need him.

Blackmon will never again be worth the #5 pick in the draft.  His value has been decimated by the risk of a relapse and a lifetime ban.  Right now, he's like a guy who has torn his ACL 5 times.

I agree that his value will never be the same, but he's a top 10 receiver when he plays. The question is who do you think has more production in the NFL going forward? If you think Blackmon ever plays again, then the answer should be Blackmon as he's more likely to have more production in one season than Hurns in a career.

The main problem, now, with that premise is....just because he plays again does it really mean he KEEPS PLAYING? That will always be the issue with Blackmon from this day forward.

Agreed.  He may very well get reinstated at some point, but for how long?  That's the concern.
Blackmon looked pretty far from being in football condition in the last mugshot we saw.
