Revamped D-Line  =  no joke

Marks' new deal is looking more and more like a bargain.   Red Bryant will be a force against the run.

Branch still has a long way to go - but he's playing hard and at least trying some new moves. They just aren't ready yet.

Clemons will earn his keep and probably have 10+ sacks. Davis looks good. Smith - promising.
Quote:They definitely resembled an NFL unit today.

The only one on the line I wasn't a fan of today was Andre Branch. I thought he got bullied by the right tackle.

I'm not trying to say that I am always right on players...buuuuuutttttt, as much as I have been down on Brewster, I have been down on Branch.

He's just not good. Smith will take snaps from him by mid season.
I liked Ryan Davis out there. He has a great motor rushing the passer

The Defensive line rotation looks amazingly deep, that's the biggest thing I'm happy about. We can play an combination of about 7-8 guys and get REAL pressure on the QB.

Overall the defense looks like it's significantly faster and a lot more disruptive this year.
The defense and especially the D-Line looks incrediable.  I haven't seen this team going after the QB like that in a while. Marks/Red/Clemons are like a stone wall. Branch and Aululu showed up as well.

This is the strength of the team right now.  Look how easy Winston Guy's INT was. It all came from pressure up front.

I absolutely have no idea what game you were watching.
Thanks to the tacks for Marks! He looks even better than last year. Nice to have a good veteran In Clemons too bringing pressure.
The Smiths impressed and Marks was disruptive as usual, but I espcially liked Deandre Coleman's hustle, chasing down Mike James and forced a bad pass from Glennon.

It was really fun to watch that D-line get pressure.  Obviously it is just the first preseason game and I have no idea if Tampa's O-line is supposed to be good but we gave their QB almost no time in the pocket.

As many have pointed out, Marks looked fantastic.  Both of the new additions from Seattle made an impact.

That play by Alualu was highlight worthy.  I believe he has earned his reputation around here and one play does not a career make but that was pretty encouraging.

Marks was a man on a mission. He looked unblocable out there.

Big Red and Clemmons looked exactly as advertised.

Ryan Davis is a playmaker. He needs to be on the field more IMO. After many years of searching, we finally found our DPR. He brings added value in that he can rush from the inside as well as out wide.

Coleman made some plays and showed good hustle. Carter batted down some balls.

Chris Smith's first step is amazing. He looked much better in pash rush than against the run. He looks like he has some serious potential to be developed.
The intro pic of Marks at the beginning of the game was simply awesome.  Hopefully they don't change it because it was quite fitting for anyone who was there at the start of the game.

Marks is going to the pro bowl this year and its because of my Avi.
I really liked a number of the big guys on the DLine.  In addition to those mentioned earlier in the thread, I was pleasantly surprised with the depth in DeAndre Coleman, Abry Jones, and David Carter.  And, kudos to Tyson Alualu for one of the better disruptive games (even if only preseason) that I have seen him play since being drafted.

Dumb tacks getting rid of Marks. Now they gotta face him twice a year.

Davis is really the player that flashed to me.   Marks play should surprise no one, because he's been playing that way since at least the second half of last year.   I already have him among  the league's top 3 techs.    But Davis playing interior nickel pass rusher with that first step  is a weapon.   When you can sub-package 4 legit pass rushers with Clemons, Marks, Davis and Branch and drop 7 into coverage you're playing big boy football.

Chris Smith did some nice things and has obvious talent, but he was taking advantage of a bunch of scrubs in their first preseason game who barely know the basic playbook using basic snap counts.    Legit pros would take advantage of that with hard counts.   He's also going to have to learn an inside speed to power move when he plays against legit NFL tackles to keep them honest.

Really liked what I saw from Roy Miller. Compared to last season when he was just trying to hold his ground, he moved guys back Friday. Looks like his shoulder issue is behind him and he'll be better this season.

Also, does anybody know about #94 DE Rivers? I don't think he showed up on the stat sheet but he was going hard and tried some different pass rush moves.

So Branch played well out there? Care to point out some plays you saw him make?

I saw him get blocked a lot...
1v1 or 4v4, the D-Line was getting pressure all night.
