Quote:Actually RJ sent me a warning about the connation of the word, and since then I have used it as a inside joke.
I love how you put the word in all caps.
I was quoting you. You said it in all caps, so therefor I quoted it in all caps... genius. Also... you condemn me for my first post but then proceed to make inside jokes in the thread? A bit hypocritical.
Quote:I think that was a point toward the posters that always talk about how great it was back in the day....
Exactly. Every time there is a tragic event, a couple posters use it to push their "this type of stuff never use to happen back in the good ole' days" agenda.

I agree that it's always happened, but I have to also say, just not as frequently..
I saw a report on CNN yesterday about the mass school shootings that have been happening since the fatal incident at Sandy Hook, the graphic showed a picture of the United States with a little red dot indicating where each shooting took place, and it made the map look like it had the measles..
Edit: Resized the image. Less annoying..

I didn't mean just school shootings . I meant anything than is negative in society. Everything negative on society people harp on and say living in the 30s and 40s etc. were better. It is flawed reasoning.

Only folks that probably need to be on medication for depression or other mental ailment.
There were problems with every era of this country's history. As the times have changed, so have the crimes.

How can I "condemn" you for something I initially didn't understand until Bch cleared it up for me?
I can tell you love the quote so much, you just had to retype it again did you?
What the hell are you talking about something or someone being hypocritical? You are overreacting too much.

years ago.

I understand not everything was better in yesteryear...but there indeed were some that were.
I mean, theres also things that are better today, I don't dispute that.
I also think that just as theres a sect of people that harp on things being better in yesteryear, theres also a sect of people that will be the polar opposite and act like everything current is best and everything decades ago was crap.....so its not just "one way".

Don't answer that, we already know.

I know, I get carried away with it sometimes.

That list isn't entirely accurate. It includes kids/people that have shot themselves on school property, gang-on-gang activity, accidental discharges, etc. etc.

74 school shootings in the past 18 months.
And to be honest, a school shooting is a school shooting. Only people that should have firearms anywhere near a school are the police.

Personally, I don't care if teachers or school staff carries weapons so long as they meet the qualifications for their State's police departments, but that's a conversation for another day. The chart that has been recirculated lately (with the pins on the map) uses incidents involving guns and labels them "school shootings" while talking specifically about Sandy Hook. It misrepresents the statistic.
When you talk about "school shootings", do you think about the kid that shot himself in his car at the back of the parking lot? The kid that brought a stolen gun to school and shot her own leg? The kids that were shooting wildly at a bunch of trees? I think it's disingenuous.
