Quote:If Marrone was being given serious consideration for the job, he would have gotten the interim tag a lot earlier in the process. Winning a couple of games at the end of a horrible season may get him an interview, but it will benefit him more for other openings. It won't help him here.Discipline and beating two division rivals in a row speaks volumes. These are not two random teams. These are two divisional rivals. So 4 games a year.

I have to hope that Caldwell is a better judge of what it takes to be a successful HC this time around and just hope he picks the right guy, whoever it is.

2 games do not speak volumes, they are worth something...but they are a small sample size and you're an idiot if you make a decision solely based on that.

Why would we want Marrone as the HC? Or better yet, if GB was not fired, what other teams would be knocking on Marrone's door? Probably not many. Shad needs to fine someone who is going to cost some $$$$ in order to win.

We should beat the clots handily this weekend. Barring any performance related incentive laden contracts that might be on their roster, they're suddenly playing for nothing other than getting out of the game injury free.

Not really. Neither team is actually a juggernaut. We should be competitive. The team was motivated because their coach was fired. Marrone isn't the magic bullet here, even if they beat an Indy team with nothing to play for this week.

I put most of our board discussions to fandom and the fantastical side of being a fan. Please no emotional choices on this next hire. It is sad that capable football all of a sudden looks like world beating stuff. All the Titans win proved to me was....
1. The Titans aren't as far along as they thought they were
2. We have better pieces in place to be successful
3. Gus was worse at his head coaching gig than I thought
It is kinda of like looking at the year's schedule when it first comes out. This schedule looked much harder than it turned out to be and our team underperformed big time.

Marrone seems so much better than Gus. Especially in his speeches/press conferences. The results from last week were superb, and hopefully this week will be as well.
The question is: Is Marrone REALLY that much better? Or is he just competent and we're so used to how bad Gus was, Marrone seems amazing. I'm leaning toward the latter myself, but we'll see.

If i can find a little time i can dig up some quotes from marrone's peers. he is highly regarded among those peers, and his history as a coach (if you really look into it, not just face value stats) shows a lot of good things as well.
i think he is definitely more than capable of turning this team around long term.

And results are being shown here as well.
Matter of fact if Bortles was more accurate maybe would of beat them by at least 30.

Bortles' acuracy is irrelevant to this. They won because they were the better team on Saturday. Others have pointed this out in this thread. It doesn't secure squat for Marrone beyond possibly an interview. This will help him more with his prospects moving forward with other teams. I don't see it giving him an advantage here. I think there's probably a short list of 3-5 guys, and then he's the next guy up after that. There's interest in the job this time around, and there will be better candidates to select from.

I think you're right, FBT, and it may not be a good thing that you are.
