Quote:Your last sentence sums it up and Henne knows this... he's that type of player and it's been said about him that he has no ego problems with this role he's in... very few QB's could or would except his kind of fate on a team...on the other hand this is a perfect situation for him this year too... he has a chance to show a few teams, that's looking for a decent QB, that he could be their man...

Agreed.

Henne isn't nearly as bad as some here would like to portray, and you're right, the ego is well contained where he's concerned.  He's shown maturity and professionalism since coming here despite the uncertainty in what his exact role was.  He stood tall and did whatever he was asked to do, and I think this front office appreciated his professionalism.  They also recognized that despite his struggles, there's a decent enough QB there to work with.  He gets this year to really work on his skill set, and maybe it pays off for him.  If it does, that's good for this team.

Wow... This thread...

Henne... He'll be better because he has the same coach two years in a row?

I know Caldwell can't be stupid enough to believe that kind of thing. If he did Gabbert would still be here.

Henne is what he is, a terrible QB who will be shown the door as soon as Bortles is ready to go.

Yeah, can you imagine that another year in the same system can make a player more comfortable with it.  Insanity, right?  Next thing you know, people will be saying that better receivers will make a QB more productive.  Sheesh.

Like I said, if they thought this coaching staff and roster could turn a terrible QB into a 10 game winner they would have just let Henne walk in free agency and stuck with Gabbert.

It's clear what Henne is here for, he's the guy keeping the seat warm while they properly groom Bortles. Henne will be terrible as usual this season.

I agree that Henne is a stop gap.  If you call 3800 yards and 20 TDs terrible though which is a reasonable expectation for Henne this year, I'd say step away from the game console.

If he hits 20 TDs he'll likely have 22 INTs, which is terrible.

I wouldn't be surprised if we see a lot more running the ball than you seem to think.

I doubt it.  With the improvement in the receivers you'll see soon enough.  You forget how productive Henne was when Blackmon played.  Blackmon's long gone, but the reciever corps is better now and the team overall has improved.  An improved defense will give the offense more chances.  Henne will throw some picks for sure, but he's going to be productive as much as that will frustrate the haters.
The most likely scenario is we go 6-10, and that's with Henne playing lights out. This team has improved greatly but the fruits will need time to mature. Sad part is Henne will have a career season and it will get lost because of youth and then next year Blake gets the rewards

If Henne's career season is 6-10, then I think we are doing okay with moving on....
