Quote:I'm not saying he wasent talented but Shorts is the better player.. Perhaps he would have been better than shorts but we will never know. Shorts would have back to back 1,000 yard seasons barring injury so it's hard to say.

And Collie had to share the wealth with 2 other very capable receivers.
Quote:Thats the homer in you talking.
Collie

38.9 yards/game

10.5 yards/catch

16 TDs in 49 games

QBs: Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Curtis Painter

Shorts

48.3 yards/game

14.5 yards/catch

11 TDs in 37 games

QBs: Blaine Gabbert, Chad Henne

Quote:And Collie had to share the wealth with 2 other very capable receivers.
and Shorts had to share a field with Gabbert/Henne. We can pick straws all day but that's not gonna make it a better argument. We both know this.
Well I think I  ended that argument, or does TMD have some bs rebuddle?

And boom goes the dynamite...
Quote:Did you ever watch him play??

If it wasn't for those concussions Collie would be a pro bowl receiver in Indy right now.
I've seen him play. He benefited from being in the slot in the Peyton Manning Colts offense.

There's nothing remarkable about him outside of the fact that he has no regard for his health by letting Manning hang him out to dry like he often did.
Quote:Did you go through FBTs recent post or did you come up with that one on your own.
Perhaps great minds think alike. Perhaps not.

My point is that you should be aware that the current Jaguar administration is not going to offer CSIII a ridiculous contract.

That they wan't to lock up CSIII long term. Dawg may not believe that he is worth what they sign him to, but it won't be J. Po stupid.

Your entry was snarky, immature and offered no real value IMO other that to boost your post count.

You are capable of better writing.

I don't even pay any attention to my post count, do you win some sort of reward for having a large one?

concussion dont take away your talent. collie had a shot with a few other teams including the pats and they also cut ties with him. he was cleared medically to play and wasnt good enough for the WR depleted pats with tom brady.

Don't give me that cleared to play medically crap, he done. You know it, I know it. Collie will never be the same after that last concussion.

he was medically cleared to play not on the colts but a totally different team. there is no way another team is taking a chance of sanctions for falsely clearing a player that isnt detrimental to their team. hes done because he was never that good to start with.
Yeah TMD just ignore the stats put infront of you..

Stats mean little when Collie was a 3rd option (at that time), of course his numbers are going to be less.

You can't cite stats in football unless you are comparing similar roles.
People still think Collie will play another down in the NFL? What year is this?

Nah, he's done now. That last concussion did him in. Much like if Cecil gets another one, he's likely done too. But that doesn't stop the people from suggesting we run right out and hand him a long term big money deal.... smh....
Important to note: Gus said, "He's going to be here." Not "He's been here for a while." While slight, that distinction leads me to believe that they are paying him based off the future and not thepast.

He's a slot WR, Cecil is a #1 or #2 outside WR. Played under worse circumstances, with less talent around him. Still produced way more than Collie and can play both positions.

He was, is and always will be better than Austin Collie.

This is wasted logic on the target of your response.  The team isn't going to overspend on Shorts.  I don't really think Shorts' expectations are to land a blockbuster contract based on his injury history the past couple of years.  In the end, the team and the player will come to a conclusion that will be acceptable to both sides.

What I can guarantee is that no matter how reasonable the deal is, certain armchair GMs on this board will declare that the team spent too much.

It deflates the entire "trade him while he has value" mantra we've been treated to recently.

It's funny because the same people who say we should trade him while he has what they believe to be 2nd or 3rd round trade value justify the fact that we shouldn't overpay him because of his concussion history.  Evidently, that injury history only impacts the dollar amount he should be paid, and not the trade value he will draw in their little fantasy world.
I am sure that Cecil will receive an acceptable contract from the Jags - with incentives based on his health and ability to stay on the field.
